Black & White Freshly Made Sketch

The components of today’s card are very geometric and chunky.  There is a lot of pattern, but you really only notice the portions done in color.  The designer papers are from Kaleidoscope, and the greeting is from Geometrical.  The flower and pattern on the Strawberry Slush diamond are from Eye-catching Ikat.  That little set is so fun to use, maybe because it is so easy to line up the images!

I followed this very clean and simple sketch by Narelle at Freshly Made Sketches.

She suggested that the inner rectangle on her sketch could be used to show off designer paper, and that made me think of these black & white patterns from Kaleidoscope.

Once again, the designer paper set the tone for the card.  However, this time I was only starting with black & white, so I could pick my own accent colors.  I knew I wanted a yellow “buttercup”.  I chose the darkest of yellows, Crushed Curry, hoping that it would provide enough contrast for embossing done in white.  Gumball Green was a natural choice for a bright stem and leaves.  Then I played around with several other bright colors before deciding on the Strawberry Slush diamond.

In the end, I came up with two of the colors that are already in Kaleidoscope DSP.  Haha – so original!  Maybe I just couldn’t get them out of my head.

Thanks for looking!  Have a great weekend!
