CASE-ing Stampin’ Up!

I have two more Birthday Blast cards to show off today, both CASEd from Stampin’ Up!  The card on the left is like the card on page 11 of the Occasions Catalog.  The shaker card is from stampinup.com.

This one is quite simple – I added a 1 1/2″ strip, punched at both ends with the Banner Triple Punch, over the stamped card base, doily and 2″ Flirty Flamingo circle.  There is also a bit of Silver Metallic thread peeking out.

The 4 1/4″ shaker cards use the Sprinkles Embellishments from the Cool Treats Suite in the Occasions Catalog.  I used a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White, scored at 4 1/4″ for the card base, and I attached the shaker to the front.

This is what the underside of the shaker piece looked like before the card base was attached.  I started with a 4 1/4″ square of designer paper*.  I cut a circle with the largest of the Layering Circles Framelits, and then attached a 3 3/4″ square of Window Sheet over the opening with Sticky Strip.

I added an Adhesive Foam Strip around the perimeter of the circle.  Note that one strip was not long enough, I added an additional piece to finish.

At this point, I used my Embossing Buddy on the inside of the shaker before adding the sequins, and before removing the backing from the foam strips.  I simply swiped the Embossing Buddy over the window sheet and against the foam strips.  This cuts down on static from the Window Sheet, and it also helps to keep the sequins from sticking to the sides of the foam strips.

Once the sequins were added, I removed the backing from the foam strips.  I then attached the card base by pressing the front of the card base to the foam strips, lining up the top edges of the card with the top of the designer paper.

(*You can cut the designer paper 4 1/4″ x 4″ instead, in order to get more pieces from your 12″ paper.  If you do cut this square short, make sure the shortfall is at the bottom of the card so the Star Blast piece will cover it.)

The Flirty Flaming piece that covers the window started as a 4 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle.  I cut it with the Star Blast edgelit, and I heat embossed the greeting before attaching it to the card.  The last step was to add ribbon.

Hope you’ll try this – these turn out so cute!
