The fun thing about the Card in a Box cards is how unexpected they are. You pull this really plain, flat card out of the envelope, and then it becomes this:
How clever is that? I made this one for the color challenge at The Paper Players this week. It may be the simplest of the Card in a Box cards that I have done lately, with only the three elements popping out of the box, four if you count the waves in the front. Btw I used my smallest circle punch to nip out the waves. The stamps on the banners are from Honeycomb Hello – love this little set for my banners!!
I was inspired by so many fussy cutters who have been cutting out this octopus from the Sea Street set. I was dying to have a go at it myself, and I must say, cutting out one octopus has probably been enough to satisfy that urge! My upline Mindy Gray sent me this darling card, and she said that she made 10 of these!! What dedication!
Her card would fit this color challenge, too. We have both used the new Maritime designer series paper which features Real Red, Whisper White and Night of Navy. You can see more entries at The Paper Players.
I have one more Card in a Box to show – and this is one that we are making in my classes this week. There is still room in tomorrow’s class at 10am if you would like to make this. Please contact me asap.
This one uses the Flowerpot designer series paper (<3 <3 <3 !!) The new designer papers are really great, aren’t they? I am also changing my “Featured Card” to a Card in a Box today, so if you order $35 (before S/H and tax) online from me, you will receive a card like this (paper patterns may vary) from me in the mail. I will also include an unassembled card base to use as a pattern to create your own cards.
If you would like to learn how to make these yourself, I recommend the tutorial at splitcoaststampers.com. You can see it here. I used the Variation to A2 Vertical.
Have a great weekend!
