I know this is quite the uncoordinated mix of cards, but that was the point of the layout I showed last night on Facebook Live – you can use it with any of your designer papers and stamp sets! These are all “Joy Folds”, with a section that folds in from the left, and a section that folds in from the right (or top and bottom, in the case of the seashells).
This post is meant as a supplement to last night’s Facebook Live. Please click here to see the video – and please join the Buckeye Inklings Stampers Group on Facebook to get notifications of all of my live videos.
The genius of these Joy Folds is that they use a piece of designer paper for the larger fold. You see the front and back of the paper, and you can design even the smallest of focal points (here, it’s about 2″ x 3″) because the background is so pretty.
I got this idea from a swap card by Terri Gaines – she used the Floating and Fluttering bundle and showcased a butterfly on the small fold, with Hydrangea Hill designer paper.
My focal point is a multi-stamp image from the Berry Blessings stamp set. The designer paper is Berry Blessings, and the greeting is from the coordinating Sweet Strawberry stamp set.
The inner piece is wider than the folded flap that you see on the card front, and this creates a large enough space for a note.
Dimensions for this card are as follows:
- Blackberry Bliss 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 3 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 3 1/4″
- Garden Green 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and 2″ x 3″
- Designer Paper 5 1/4″ x 6″, scored at 2″ (the designer paper gets folded into a 2″ flap and a 4″ section – take care to score the correct side if you have a directional print)
- Whisper White 3″ x 3″ and 1 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
This example is made exactly the same way, but it uses Flower & Field designer paper and the Welcoming Window bundle.
If you need a larger front panel, you can enlarge the front flap as needed. I sized my pieces here to fit the scalloped rectangle that measures 2 1/2″ x 3 5/8″ from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. The seashell card below is made the same way and the dimensions are shown below.
I used the same layout and sizes as the donkey card for this card made with the Sand & Sea suite. It is simply turned to the landscape orientation.
The products in this suite are fabulous!! There are so many bits and pieces to use, and the stamp set has equally great images and greetings.
Here’s a shot of how these flaps nest together.
In this version, the folded Seaside Spray cardstock piece is not extended to the fold on the inside (though it could be if you need a larger space for your greeting). In this case, I made the inner flap the same dimensions as what you see on the front of the card.
Dimensions for this card are as follows:
- Seaside Spray 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 4″ x 5 3/4″, scored at 2 7/8″
- Flirty Flamingo 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
- Sahara Sand 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″
- Designer Paper 5 1/4″ x 6″, scored at 2″ (the designer paper gets folded into a 2″ flap and a 4″ section – take care to score the correct side if you have a directional print)
- Whisper White 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″ and Stitched Scallop Rectangle 2 1/2″ x 3 5/8″
I hope you’ll give this a try – I found that all of my papers had great potential for this layout! Thank you for checking out my projects, and thanks for any support you can give me in likes, follows, and shares on my social media.
