Emoji-inspired Message

DSC_2316w

My first round of Ribbon Shares arrived and are packaged (and mailed, where applicable).  I have added pictures of each to the Product Shares page.  Please contact me if you would like to be included in the next round.  Per Stampin’ Up! policy, I must take orders for the shares before ordering product.  The turnaround time is about two weeks to receive your share(s).

I am using “Marquee Messages” without the marquee today – so it is simply a message. Celebration emojis were my inspiration. You know the ones – ??????

The Daffodil Delight piece was cut with the largest “leg” of the Sunburst thinlit.  Our new Sprinkles punch makes the confetti.  The balloons are stamped with “Balloon Celebration” and punched with the Balloon Bouquet punch.

Have a great day!

Sunshine Wishes

DSC_2304w

Yay, finally!  My June 1 order from the new Annual Catalog came yesterday.  After forcing myself to do yard work through the day (couldn’t ignore the 7 yards of mulch on the driveway), I made a few cards last night.

I was anxious to try the new Big Shot Platform with an intricate die, so I reached for the Sunshine Wishes thinlits.  I did get a great result with this new platform, used with the Precision Base Plate.  However, I knew that the real test was going to be my Bloomin’ Heart thinlit.  I am happy to report that I got a great result there, too!!

The new Big Shot Platform replaces the hinged Multi-purpose Platform.  It was created to compensate for the slightly lower pressure that is delivered at the middle of the Big Shot opening.  The new platform is slightly thicker in the middle, forcing a tighter squeeze in the middle, resulting in a more uniform result when cutting or embossing.

I did use the Precision Base Plate to cut my flower shapes, but please keep in mind that the Precision Base Plate is only recommended for intricate thinlits.  Stampin’ Up! has identified the sets that include these thinlits on page 194 of the Annual Catalog.  Some of those sets also have very small dies and framelits (open shapes which often coordinate with a stamped image) that will not withstand the pressure of the Big Shot against the Precision Base Plate.

There have been a handful of new products and platforms for the Big Shot in the past few years – Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate, Die Brush, and now the improved Big Shot Platform.  Each was created for a specific need, and each provides an improvement.  It can get confusing though, so I recommend the video below to anyone who owns a Big Shot.  It provides a great summary of these items, and it is a good refresher for all of us.

Also, don’t forget that today is the day new subscribers can sign up to receive their first Paper Pumpkin kit for $5, including shipping!!  Click here to go to the Paper Pumpkin site, and follow the prompts to sign up.  There is no subscription length, you can cancel at any time!

Swirly Bird Twist and Turn

CCMC410

We have a bright and summery color challenge this week – it makes me think of sunshine and clear skies.  I didn’t get a sun worked into my card as originally planned, but I did come up with a fun summery card.

DSC_2291w

This is a “Twist and Turn” card.  It opens as shown below, and it is much, much easier than it looks!  The base is simply a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock.

Here’s a look at the other side of the opened card:

DSC_2299w

The video below shows how to score and fold the base.

I will repeat the dimensions here, so that you don’t have to search through the video to find them:

Crumb Cake base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 3/4″ and 4″ along 8 1/2″ side and scored at 2 3/4″ along 5 1/2″ side

Whisper White mats (2) – 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″

Bermuda Bay dsp – 2 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and 1″ x 2 1/2″

Whisper White – 2 1/2″ square

Daffodil Delight dsp – 2 3/8″ square

Here is another version, with our new Affectionately Yours designer paper and stamps from “Perfectly Wrapped”.  I also used our great new banner punch, and split the banner so it could extend beyond the circle:

And a version we made in club last month.  I CASEd this one from Tina Rappe, you can see her card here.  It uses the now retired “Apple of My Eye” along with various papers (Cherry on Top and Envelope Paper):

These are really fun – and so easy!  Hope you’ll give them a try.

Don’t forget to visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the entries into the color challenge this week.  My teammates have come up with some fabulous inspiration, and we would love it if you would play along!

Get the Expensive Sets for FREE

DSC_2302w

Some stamp sets sit on my Wish List for a while because of price.  “Remarkable You”, at $45 in Wood, was one of those sets for me.

Good news, though…you don’t have to wait to get the expensive sets.  You can choose two for FREE when you sign up as a Demonstrator in June.  This is so simple, just click here to place your Starter Kit order instead of shopping in the store.  You will be prompted to pick $125 worth of the product of your choice AND two additional stamp sets.  The cost is $99, and shipping is FREE.

There is no obligation to buy anything beyond the Starter Kit, and no obligation to sell.  You will be able to purchase with at least a 20% discount while you are active.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at stampyourworld@gmail.com if you would like to discuss this further.  Don’t let this get by you – I had a handful of people upset that they didn’t take advantage of this special last year. I would love to welcome you to my Buckeye Inklings Team!

Back to my card…  I heat embossed the images in white on a large rectangle of Shimmery White Cardstock.  I used my aquapainter to add the colors – Emerald Envy, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  I cut the oval shape after coloring.  There were extra colored leaves outside of my oval, so I fussy-cut those to use under the greeting.

Thanks for stopping by – have a great Monday!

Hawaiian Shirt Fun Fold

DSC_2289w

I CASEd this fun fold shirt from Carolyn Bennie to make with my clubs in May.  It makes a great Father’s Day card, or any occasion “guy card”.  I love it because it is summery and different.  Our retired Botanical designer series paper was perfect to create a Hawaiian look, but I think it will be awesome in brights, stripes, pastels, and all kinds of patterns.

DSC_2290w

The torso of the shirt untucks from under the collar to fold open.

It proved tricky to draw up and explain in directions, although it is not difficult to create.  I promised my club members a video in lieu of written directions.  I was just waiting for a rainy day to get it done.  And I was so happy for a rainy day – we have been working in the yard nonstop otherwise, in preparation for Julia’s graduation party.  My arms are scratched up and mosquito-bitten, and my legs are worse (but they are not in the video!)  Julia says it looks like I have been fighting with a cat.  I am digressing, here’s the video:

I have a limited number of my Botanical Blooms Stamp Case Gift Sets available, and I am offering them with FREE shipping until my supply is gone.  Please click here for details.

Marquee Messages

CCMC409

When I saw this week’s sketch, my mind went right to the new set “Marquee Messages”.  It’s a great set for all ages, either sex, and many occasions.  I have used it for several cards with colorblocked pieces, but I wanted to try something different this week.  I heat embossed it in white on black cardstock.

DSC_2286w

Don’t you love the retro look of the sign?  My original plan was to put this image on one of the new Pop of Pink designer papers.  One side of each of the Pop of Pink papers is black and white; I am using one of them as a backdrop in this picture.  However, the bold diagonal stripe from the neutrals designer paper stack seemed more suitable.

I broke up all of the black and white with a little Crushed Curry and Cucumber Crush.  Our thick twine is now available in a few great new colors – Cucumber Crush, Melon Mambo, and Whisper White.

Thank you for checking out my challenge card.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the cards created by my talented teammates as well as the entries as they come in.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

May Madness

DSC_2284w

May is tough on Stampin’ Up! fans.  It’s a real rollercoaster – if you’re not rushing to get the Retiring Items before they are gone, you’re dreaming about the Sneak Peek items that you can’t have yet.  The whole process is a necessary evil if we want to make way for new things – it’s exciting and a bummer at the same time.

My card today will give you a break from all of that anxiety.  All of the items used are being carried over.  You can have them now if you wish, or you can get them later if you like.  No pressure!

The stamp set is “Garden in Bloom” and I have stamped the flowers in Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay.  The leaves are Pear Pizzazz, and the yellow touches are Daffodil Delight.  The greeting is from “Grateful Bunch”.

I hope you have been able to get any items you wanted from the Retiring List – there are still a lot of great deals to be had.  Click here to see the updated list.  There are also a few things to keep in mind when comparing the current annual catalog to the new annual catalog:

Cardstock prices will increase on June 1.

Current bundles will not carry over.  Though many of the great stamp sets and their coordinating framelits and punches will carry over, they will no longer be available in a discounted bundle.  This applies to bundles offered in the current Annual Catalog, bundles in the Occasions Catalog as well as bundles shown on page 48 of the Occasions Catalog – the “Returning Favorites” from last year’s Holiday Catalog.  All of these bundles can be seen in the online store under “Bundle & Save”.  The bundles you see there now will be replaced with exciting new bundles on June 1.

Also, as you are making your Wish List for the new Annual Catalog, keep in mind the New Demo and Customer Specials that I discussed on Tuesday.  Click here to review those details.  Please contact me at stampyourworld@gmail.com if you have any questions.  Also, please contact me if you would like a new catalog, but do not currently have a demonstrator.  I would be happy to mail you one.

Have a great weekend!
