Soft Colors

CCMC408

This week’s colors are very sweet and pretty.  I used them with “Swirly Bird”, a set from the upcoming 2016-2017 Annual Catalog that I can’t seem to put down!

There are coordinating framelits for this set, and I cut a bit out of one of the thinlit shapes to make a wreath.  I kept it simple otherwise, with just a few flowers and leaves.  The greeting is from “And Many More”, a fabulous collection of 23 greetings that is retiring, and also 25% off while supplies last.

A Card for Someone Special

DSC_2215w2

I needed a cheerful card for someone special this weekend, and once again found myself reaching for “Swirly Bird”.  I was inspired by the fabulous sunshine on Kim Badelt’s card which you can see here.  I am using it with our new Peekaboo Peach, and my background is from the Brights Designer Paper Stack.

I used some of the words from “Thoughtful Banners”, another sneak peek set.  With 53 stamps, that set delivers so many sentiments!  And it is so appropriately named because it allows you to be thoughtful about the greeting.

Would you like to get these two stamp sets for FREE?  Or any two stamp sets from the new catalog for that matter?  Stampin’ Up! announced a fabulous promotion for June – you can choose any two stamp sets FREE with your Starter Kit.  The Starter Kit already allows the choice of $125 in product for $99, and shipping is included.  Two free stamp sets add up to $104 value, depending on your stamp choices.

“Bravo” Remake

DSC_2214w

This is a remake of a favorite congrats card that I made last year.  Click here to see that card  – it was made with the retired Birthday Bash designer paper.  I substituted this year’s fun It’s My Party designer paper and colors for a special grad who we celebrated this weekend.

The greetings are all from the stamp set “Bravo”.  It is on the Retiring List, available until the end of the month, or until supplies run out.  It’s My Party paper is also retiring.  The updated Retiring List is shown below – there are still many good deals to be had, and many favorites to grab before they are gone!

Birthday Greetings

CCMC407

I intended to make a flower for this sketch challenge, but I was running late this week and made the mistake of looking in our gallery before I made my card.  I usually don’t do that because I don’t want to be influenced by the other samples.  Since most of my teammates had already made lovely cards with the flowers that were in my head, I decided to try something different.

DSC_2211w

I used strips of designer paper and the colors from the It’s My Party designer paper collection.  I cut a silver foil balloon and added a loopy length of our new Thick Whisper White Baker’s Twine, which will be available in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog starting June 1.  A rolled up glue dot holds each of the loops in place.

Grateful Bunch Notes

DSC_2203w

This is a quick and cute way to present a set of note cards, and you can coordinate it with your cards.  You can also tuck in a note pad, gift card, chocolate…whatever you can think of!  I have shown this tote before, and I will link a video on its construction at the end of this post.

DSC_2204w

I used So Saffron and Basic Gray with Smoky Slate strips of designer paper.  The image stamps are from “Grateful Bunch”.  People are always surprised that the pretty lace stamp is a part of that set.  Of course, the flowers are – the one on the note card, and the three that are layered together on the tag.  There is a coordinating punch to cut the flowers that you see on the tag.

The note card greeting is from “Watercolor Wishes” and the tag greeting is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.

Sneak Peek Blog Hop

GV Blog Header

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for March. This month we are providing a sneak peek at products that will be available from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog starting June 1.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

I am thinking of my fellow Grand Vacation Achievers as they travel to Spain this week to begin a fabulous week-long cruise around the Mediterranean.  This reward trip only comes as compensation for a year of hard work. I also earned this trip, but quite happily chose to stay home to celebrate my daughter’s high school graduation on Tuesday 🙂

My card is inspired by the thought of sunny seas, and I am using “Swirly Bird” and the coordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  The greeting is from “Thoughtful Banners”.

swirlybirdsail

“Swirly Bird” is a fun set to build scenes with, and it is also so useful when you need random scribbles and lines.  I used a 3 3/4″ square of designer paper from the It’s My Party designer paper collection and a Crushed Curry card base behind my scene.

The orange on this card is Tangelo Twist.  I am saying a sad farewell to this color, my favorite of our oranges.  I used it over our new Peekaboo Peach for the sun and also for the mat behind the scene which measures 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.

The Whisper White measures 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.  I sponged Dapper Denim onto the lower portion of the card over a mask of vellum.

I cut the vellum with the same thinlit as the waves, and just used the top edge for sponging as shown.

DSC_2208w

I attached the Dapper Denim waves after the scene was completely stamped and mounted on the Tangelo Twist mat.  I then cut the excess length of waves just beyond the Tangelo Twist mat.

This is a set with a lot of potential, and I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek.  Best wishes for sunny skies and smooth sailing to the demos enjoying our reward trip!

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many great projects here.  Remember that currently you are at my blog – Chris Slogar – so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next, and enjoy!

Thoughtful Banners Sneak Peek

thoughtfulbanners

More words = more fun with this set!  There are 53 photopolymer stamps in “Thoughtful Banners”, and most of them are words.  That’s the first thing I love about it.

The second thing is that crooked stamping is ok.  While the perfectly aligned sample shown in the catalog is awesome, I think crooked is cute, more fun, and less stress.

And the third thing…there is a punch that coordinates and will be available bundled with this set.  The Duet Banner Punch cuts two curved banners.  I have used one on my card.  There will also be a new long and skinny punch shape – sort of like the Word Window, but with pointy ends.

All of this adds up to a lot of possibilities with this set, and I have barely scratched the surface with my sneak peek.  By the way, all of these sneak peek products, including the beautiful new colors (Flirty Famingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, and Dapper Denim used here), will be available starting June 1.

To my regular readers, don’t be alarmed by a reduction of posts over the next few weeks.  May is crazy anyway as school winds down and summer kicks off, but we also have Julia’s high school graduation and company to look forward to over the next month.  So, I will be “working” a little less by reducing events and posts, but still available for questions and orders.

I do have our fabulous new catalog 2016-2017 available now.  If you don’t have a Demonstrator, I would be happy to mail you one.  Please contact me at stampyourworld@gmail.com.

Have a great Monday!

(Lack of) Color Challenge

CCMC406

Color Challenges are already hard for me.  It can be tough to be limited to three colors.  But this week…three neutrals!  These aren’t really colors are they?

DSC_2195w

I did come up with a neutral card using one of my current favorite sets – “Grateful Bunch”.  The gray flower is pretty cool, and there is metallic thread looped under the candy dot.  The picture doesn’t show the thread, but it does coordinate nicely with the staples.  I have taken to stapling these thick trims, with exposed staples in cases like this where the added detail is welcome.

Thanks for checking out my challenge card!  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see the cards prepared by my talented teammates, as well as the entries.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

Swirly Bird Sneak Peek

DSC_2201w2

“Swirly Bird” was at the top of my wish list after I saw it at OnStage in April, so I am thrilled that I was able to get it in my preorder.  I just love the carefree scribbles and the cute images (yes, there is a bird) that make up this set.  The set includes 24 two-step stamps, and there is a coordinating set of thinlits.

I also used three of the upcoming 2016-2018 In Colors on this card – Dapper Denim, Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy.  I used Ruched Ribbon in Dapper Denim – you are going to love this ribbon!  It is light enough to be user-friendly, and it is so pretty!  All of these sneak peek products will be available starting June 1.

I did use a few current products on this card – Pool Party Ink and Cardstock, a greeting from “Watercolor Words”, rhinestones and the stripes mask.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Grateful Bunch CASE

DSC_2199w2

This is a CASE of a card in our demonstrator magazine that uses “Grateful Bunch”.  In my version, the card front is only half-width.  The Basic Black panel covers most of the inside panel, and it opens as shown below.

DSC_2200w

The Crumb Cake base measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″.  The Basic Black panel measures 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and the Whisper White mat measures 3″ x 4 1/4″.

DSC_2198w

The Bow Clip was my motivation to make the card this way.  I wanted an edge to which I could easily clip a length of sequins.  The greeting is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.
