Happy Birthday Memo

DSC_2197w

This is a sneak peek at new colors – I have used three of the upcoming 2016-2018 In Colors.  They are Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, and Flirty Flamingo.  These colors will be available in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog, starting June 1.  There is also a 1/2″ strip of designer paper from the Affectionately Yours collection that will be available in the new Annual Catalog.

I used the current stamp set “Watercolor Words” with the Elegant Dots embossing folder.  I used the Shine On specialty paper from the Occasions Catalog to create the back of my memo pad.  Shine On will only be available while supplies last.  My piece measures 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″, and the Typeset grid paper is cut slightly smaller at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.

The product list below shows only what is currently available.  Have a great Monday!

Big News

DSC_2099w

This card was in my head for a while – I have been wanting to use the sweet bear from “Bear Hugs” to make a “Big News” baby card.  Time is running out on “Big News” – it is on the Retiring List.  Note that the price shown in the carousel below does not reflect the Retiring List discount of 25% on this set.  If you click into the store through the carousel, you will see the correct price.

Click here to see the complete Retiring List – there are some nice discounts available on the outgoing products.

I am happy to report that “Bear Hugs” and its coordinating framelits will be carried over into the new Annual Catalog, although they will no longer be available in a discounted bundle.  If you want both, the Occasions Catalog does offer them in a bundle through May – check the carousel below for prices.

I threw in something brand new here, too – a bit of our new Peekaboo Peach cardstock.  Peekaboo Peach will be one of our 2016-2018 In Colors.

Have a great weekend!

Friends & Flowers

CCMC405

I followed this week’s sketch pretty closely, using bright flowers and leaves from “Friends & Flowers” in the flower element’s place.

DSC_2082w

I started with a Soft Sky background, with polka dots sponged in Soft Sky over the Dots Mask.  The designer paper is from the Everyday Chic collection.  I chose really bright colors to show up against the black and white – Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight.  I cut the scallop with the Berry Basket die, and the greeting is from “Big News”.  This big greeting set is on the Retiring List, and it will be missed!

Thank you for checking out my challenge card for this week.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the cards prepared by my talented teammates as well as the entries as they come in.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

Navy <3 <3 <3

DSC_2098w

These colors make me so happy – I love navy, and this combination of preppy colors is an 80’s throwback for me.  I used a collar fold to show off this paper because I wanted to see a lot of it.  It is from the collection Affectionately Yours, which will be available in the upcoming 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  In the meantime, you can make this with card type your favorite paper – the directions are here.

The greeting and the leaves are from “Apple of My Eye”, and I also used “Dots for Days” on the portion of the Cucumber Crush card base that is revealed.  The scallop circle is punched from another sneak peek item – Flirty Flamingo cardstock.  Flirty Flamingo is one of our new 2016-2018 In Colors.

Have a great day!

Retiring List and Discounts

As we get ready to roll out a new Annual Catalog, we have to say good-bye to some of our favorites from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.  Many of the items on the Retiring List are available at a discount.  Accessories are available while supplies last, and stamps will be produced through May 22.

Wild About Flowers

DSC_2083w

I CASEd Sandi Hartka’s card to use for my church’s card ministry this month.  Don’t you just love a design that is pretty without being difficult?

The flowers from “Wild About Flowers” are stamped directly onto a Thick Whisper White card base, and the lower 2″ section is covered with a Whisper White panel embossed to resemble a brick wall.  I wrapped the card with a length of Wild Wasabi seam binding, and finished it with a greeting from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  The butterfly is from “Garden in Bloom”.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a great Monday!

Money Folder

DSC_2080w

I am running late with my posts after a busy week of Card Buffet, but I do want to share this money folder that was popular in class this week.  This is a great way to present cash or a check to a grad.  I shared this last year in a slightly different design, and I will link the video that shows how to cut the base at the end of this post.

We made this in many different colors this week – for all of the local high schools and some universities.  I hope you can see the 1/2″ x 7″ strip of Color Me Irresistible paper just under the greeting – it is already embossed, and it dresses up the front of the folder nicely.

The Garden Green cardstock measures 2″ x 5 1/4″, and the Whisper White that carries the greeting from “Bravo” measures 1 3/4″ x 5″.  Those pieces are matted together and mounted to the front of the folder with dimensionals.

I am using some of my favorite things here, and sadly, they are on the retiring list.  “Bravo” is a fabulous set of greetings that covers just about any congratulation card you can think of, and the Color Me Irresistible paper will be gone, too (and it is half off – $6.50 for the whole collection!)  The Itty Bitty Punch Pack with the star will also retire with this catalog.

DSC_2081w

The inside flap is punched with the envelope punch board, and I have attached a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3″ x 6 3/4″) to the inside.

This card fits in a standard envelope that I got at my local printer’s shop.  It is called a Monarch envelope, and it measures 3 7/8″ x 7 1/2″.

The Basic Black base measures 7″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 3 1/4″ x 6 1/2″.  The file tab on the inside is created by punching with the envelope punch board at 3 1/2″.  The video below shows exactly how this is created.  Please keep in mind that the video is from last year, so the design on the front is different.

By the Tide Colors

CCMC404

This color challenge struck me as nautical, and I thought “By the Tide” suited it well.  I pulled some random shapes and textures together in these colors, and this is what I came up with.

DSC_2025w

I don’t know what kind of fish that is, or what color he should be, so why not Calypso Coral?  It makes him stand out nicely, and it works with the challenge.

Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to check out the cards prepared for this challenge by my talented teammates.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

“Baby Love” Blog Hop

GV Blog Header

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for March. This month’s theme – “Baby Love”.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

DSC_2035w

This little bear from “Bear Hugs” is outside the nursery window, peeking in.  I sponged the sky behind him with Soft Sky, using a punched piece from the Tree Builder Punch as a mask to make clouds.  The tree and the window are cut from framelits, and the greeting is from “Suite Sayings”.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many great projects here!  Remember that currently you are at my blog – Chris Slogar – so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next, and enjoy!

Birthday Balloons Double Z-fold

DSC_2009w

This is one of the projects that we made in club this weekend.  It is a double z-fold card with balloons mounted on Window Sheets along the band.

DSC_2010w

The base of the card is a typical “Z”.  It measures 4 1/4″ x 11″; it’s scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.  There is also a band that is folded in a “Z”.  The band measures 1″ x 11″, also scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.

DSC_2011w

The longer length of band is placed over the narrower section of the base.  In this case, the band is tucked behind the Whisper White piece with the stars and balloon.

DSC_2012w

For this card, I used the smaller of the balloons on the Balloon Bouquet punch, and the balloons are two-sided.  Using the end of my Aquapainter, I distressed the edges of each balloon to make them curl. DSC_2032w

The edges curled easily as I traced each balloon outline against the pierce mat – this is similar to what I showed for the flower centers on this card last week (click here).

DSC_2033w

Working with pairs of the same pattern, the balloons were each sandwiched around a dimensional and the end of a 3/8″ strip of Window Sheet.  There is a glue dot holding the balloon to the Window Sheet.

DSC_2011w

In this picture, you can see how the Window Sheet strips are then attached to the band with a glue dot.  That curly string is our Baker’s Twine.  Did you know that it curls like curling ribbon against your bone folder?  That takes any kinks out, too!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great Monday!
