Playful Pals Owl

This little owl is the critter that attracted me to the “Playful Pals” bundle, yet I didn’t get a chance to make him until now. I’ve made several other animals as I needed them, but I almost forgot about this little guy.

Once again, I used the super-sized stack of designer paper from the It’s My Party Suite in the Occasions Catalog. It includes subtles, neutrals, and bright party patterns. I can’t get enough of them! The greeting is from “Suite Sayings”.

Botanical Thanks

The stamps in “Botanical Blooms” are great for background stamping. I had some fun here with a color combination I found on Pinterest. It uses Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz. The sentiment is from “Suite Sayings”, and it is stamped on a piece of the Botanical Gardens Vellum, leftover from Sale-a-bration.

If you are shopping, check out the Clearance Rack for items that were added this week. A few of my favorite trims from the 2015 Holiday Catalogs were added. It is also a great time to stock up on any products in the retiring 2014-2016 In Colors – Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist. Layered Sketch Challenge

If you like layers, you are in for a treat. You just need to keep adding and adding to mimic this sketch.

I didn’t want to lose too much of the background pattern, so I used a layer of vellum over the designer paper. Then I added some texture with the Corrugated Paper, and a little more color with the striped strip. The greeting is from “Big News”.

Both of the designer papers are from the It’s My Party stack offered in this year’s Occasions Catalog. It is such a versatile stack with it’s bright birthday prints, black and white papers, and subtle Mint Macaron and neutral patterns. The twine is from the same suite.

The Dreaded Cone, Day 4

For Chip’s fans…it’s been a rough week for our Buckeye Inklings mascot. He is stuck in a cone after an emergency vet visit this weekend to treat an abscess. You can see why I am calling him “my sweet petunia”. There is just so much to love about this look – the brightly colored cone, the partially shaved leg, and then there’s the 5″ square of fur missing around 6 grisly staples. What a mess!

He was back to his lively self today, but he forgets about the cone. He forced his way through some bushes, turning the cone inside out.

Here he is, face down in a bunny hole. Meanwhile, the bunnies were hiding in plain sight, just a few feet away. Chip couldn’t find them, even though his cone was turned into a cape. So it was a fun outing, and nobunny got hurt 🙂

We may have to go back to a hard cone though.

Anyway, glad he’s feeling better! He’s tuckered out now.

Sunburst for a Sketch Challenge

I love this cloud pattern from the Shine On specialty designer paper – it works so well with my sunburst today. I used the sketch at Global Design Project as my inspiration, but I had to turn it on its side so everything would fit.

I used mats of Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky with my Crushed Curry sunburst. And great news about the sunburst this week…the pricey $29.00 thinlit is discounted to $21.75 through Monday, April 11. It’s a great week for Weekly Deals – there are more than usual on the list, including some big ticket items. See them here.

My greeting is from the February 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit, heat embossed in black. The punched clouds were made with the Tree Builder Punch.

Grateful Bunch

I have a quick and easy card for a Monday. I love using the stems from “Grateful Bunch” in my backgrounds, especially with a color that I have been neglecting – Cucumber Crush. The cut leaves are from one of the Rose Garden thinlits.

Wild About Flowers

I’m running a bit late with my Friday post 🙂 but wanted to share a favorite from this week’s Card Buffet. It is a CASE of a card I saw on Pinterest by Cheryl Hamilton. The stamp set is “Wild About Flowers”, and this is a z-fold card with an oval mounted on dimensionals to the front panel

This stamp set offers great Retirement sentiments, but we made this card with many different greetings this week. The flowers are Crushed Curry and the green is Wild Wasabi. That beautiful Spring Flowers embossing folder is still available on the Clearance Rack (as of this morning) for $4.79.

Mobile for Baby

This is a color challenge that could be used in many ways…well, I guess that is true of all of our color challenges! From my perspective, there seem to be more possibilities with this one, and I went the baby route.

I sponged a strip of Color Me Irresistible designer paper with Lost Lagoon, and added a framelit star that is also punched with the Confetti Stars border punch. I added elements from “Pictogram Punches” and drew on strings to give the appearance of a mobile. We are making a version of this in Card Buffet this week, in various colors.
