“Bear Hugs” Lake Full of Fish

BearHugs6

The fish are absolutely jumping in this lake!  This is an interactive card with a wheel that turns easily to “animate” the fish.

BearHugs7

This end view gives you a better idea of the mechanism – a very simple wheel that is pinned in place with a mini brad.  It’s sort of a throw-back to “View Master” cards.  The video shows how to create this.

Thanks for stopping by – have a good Monday!

One-Layer Thank You Notes

DSC_1817w

I love to use our note cards for quick and easy thank you cards.  One of our Sale-a-bration sets, “What I Love”, has a fabulous little thank you sentiment that is just right for these little notes.  It’s delicate and pretty, and it’s photopoloymer – so it’s totally clear and easy to place!  I paired it with one of the flowers from “Flowering Fields”, another of our great Sale-a-bration sets.

The Sale-a-bration sets are products that you can choose to receive for FREE with a $50 product order.  Every $50 increment earns a free item.  The complete Sale-a-bration flyer is posted in the left column of my site.  Please click on it to flip through all of the choices, or you can view the choices in the online store.

I made the watercolor background for my flowers by stamping with my acrylic block.

DSC_1815w

I used the brush end of my markers to swipe some color onto a size D acrylic block.  I started with So Saffron at the top, continued with Wisteria Wonder at the bottom, and then added in Watermelon Wonder as shown in the picture.  Holding the block away from my project, I lightly misted it with water, and then I pressed it to the note card.

After the background was completely dry, I stamped my flowers with Staz-On, masking below the colored area with a Post-It.  I added some little touches of Wink of Stella to the flowers, too.  That pretty glitter is hard to see in the picture, but it is a fabulous final touch.

That’s it for today – hope you have a great weekend!

Valentine’s Day Colors

CCMC392

We have the perfect colors to play with at this time of year – better than perfect since Stampin’ Up! also offers a gorgeous designer paper series (Love Blossoms) that features these colors.  I chose a few patterns for my card.

DSC_1811w

I used the Sweetheart Punch to create a stack of designer paper hearts, and I stitched them to the Blushing Bride mat after it was stamped. I also caught the edge of a folded doily in the stitching.

The background stamp is a repeated XOXO from the January 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit, and I clipped a length of Blushing Bride sequins to the  card front.  Those great enamel dots are from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.

This is a joy fold card.  Both sides open to reveal the greeting.

DSC_1812w

Whether you see these as Valentine’s colors…or just pretty colors, hope you’ll play along with our challenge this week.  Click here to go to the Create with Connie and Mary site – you’ll get plenty of inspiration from my talented teammates!

Bear Hugs for Baby

BearHugs5w

I needed a baby card, so I turned to my current favorite bundle – “Bear Hugs” – to make a card in Tip Top Taupe, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight.  The grass is a piece of retired Pear Pizzazz designer paper cut with the fringe die from the Pyramid Pals Thinlits.

The background stamp is from the free Sale-a-bration set “Hello”.  I stamped the lines in a grid pattern, a task made easier with my Stamp-a-ma-jig.

DSC_1814w

I have 1/2″ increments marked on one of my old Stamp-a-ma-jigs.  I put them there for a project long ago, and they come in handy for making parallel and evenly spaced elements.

In this case, I held the stamp-a-ma-jig in place after stamping the first line (you don’t want to move it until you turn to stamp in the other direction.)  I then re-inked the stamp for each line I wanted to add, and moved my stamp to the next mark before stamping.  Then I turned my paper 90 degrees and added lines in the opposite direction to make the grid.

“Hello” is one of the three Sale-a-bration products that is only available through February 15.  I will show the Limited-Time products below, and yes, there will be replacements, so keep scrolling!

Calla Lilies

DSC_1808w

Calla lilies are just so breathtaking and graceful.  The beautiful flowers stamped here are from the set “Remarkable You” in the Annual Catalog.  The greeting is from “Rose Wonder” in the Occasions Catalog.  I find myself using that set over and over for the lovely greetings.

DSC_1809w

I colored the outside of the petals in Pool Party, and I added Wink of Stella over the colored area.  It is so hard to photograph this beautiful glittery addition, but it really makes the card special.  The pen-shaped brush-tip applicator makes it so easy to add sparkle where you want a little no-mess highlight.

I CASEd a card that I received from my upline Mindy Gray to make this sympathy card.  Her card is shown below.

The greeting on this card is part of the “Remarkable You” stamp set.

Have a great Monday!

Wildflower Fields Trio

DSC_1805w

Sale-a-bration is the best time of year to shop Stampin’ Up! because of the freebies.  These three cards use Wildflower Fields Designer Paper, one of the products that you can choose for free with a $50 order.  It is a full pack of 12 double-sided 12″x12″ patterned paper in fabulous colors like Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Old Olive.

Click on the Sale-a-bration catalog icon in the left column to see all of the free product choices you have when you shop now.

DSC_1801w

This drapery fold card is a CASE of a beautiful card I received in a swap from Missy Shipman.  I used only a rectangle (4″ x 2 1/4″) of designer paper at the top and a smaller rectangle (2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″) at the bottom right corner.  The dimensions of the pleated Calypso Coral piece are shown below.

DSC_1803w

I have another CASE from the same swap, this one from Kelly Acheson.  It uses another of the sale-a-bration sets that you can choose for free with a $50 product order, “Botanicals for You”.

DSC_1804w

It is a z-fold.

DSC_1806w

Kelly has provided details here.

DSC_1800w

This is a card from this week’s Card Buffet class.  The flowers and stem are from “Grateful Bunch”, and the greeting is from the October 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit.

DSC_1807w

The front panel of the Blackberry Bliss does not cover the whole card front.  It measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″.

Don’t forget to use those Paper Pumpkin stamps!  I store mine in a Project Life binder so that they are easily accessible!

DSC_1559w

Paper Pumpkin is our monthly subscription kit, and it is also on sale during Sale-a-bration.  The three-month subscription is $55 when you buy it as an item in the store, and it qualifies you for a free Sale-a-bration Item.  This is for new or existing customers – please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

One Layer Grateful Bunch

CCMC391

I went with a really simple interpretation of this week’s sketch, and I had fun with the Grateful Bunch Bundle.

DSC_1798w

I rarely make one layer cards, which is a shame, because they are perfect for some occasions!  All of the stamps used on this card are from the set “Grateful Bunch”, and there is a great coordinating punch (Blossom Bunch) that punches all three flowers at once.

Thank you for checking out my Challenge Card.  You can see all of my talented teammates’ cards at Create with Connie and Mary.  Hope you will visit and play along!

“All You Need is Love” Blog Hop

GV Blog Header

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for January. This month’s theme – “All You Need is Love”.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

This little bear from “Bear Hugs” has stolen my heart.

DSC_1799w

I stamped him on Tip Top Taupe, a soft brown that coordinates so nicely with the Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron in the Birthday Bouquet designer paper.  The heart is also from “Bear Hugs”, and there are coordinating framelits for this set.  The chevron stamp is from “Work of Art”.  I can picture this little bear on baby cards and birthday cards, and the set also includes great accessories for other occasions.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many great projects here!  Remember that currently you are at my blog – Chris Slogar – so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next, and enjoy!
