Sky is the Limit, Take 2

DSC_1795w

This time around, I have used “Sky is the Limit” for a Valentines Day card in soft colors.  It looks so different than the red, yellow and blue birthday card I made with the same set last week (click here to see it).  This set is only available with the Sale-a-bration offerings through February 15.

The plane is skywriting in Blushing Bride, and did you notice the vellum propeller?  It is cut from one of the flower centers in the Botanical Builder Framelits and locked in place with a mini brad.

The Tip Top Taupe card base measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 3″.  The panel embossed with the World Traveler embossing folder measures 2 3/4″ x 4″.

The Rose Red piece measures 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″, and it opens to reveal the greeting.  The Whisper White pieces on the front and inside measure 3″ x 4″.

We will be making this card at St. Mike’s Card Ministry tonight, and also in Card Buffet this week.  Please contact me if you would like to join us – Tuesday at 6:30pm, Wednesday at noon or 6:30pm, Thursday at noon, or Friday at 10am.

Have a great Monday!

Sweetest Bear Hugs

Bear Hugs and Apple of My Eye

“Bear Hugs” is proving pretty irresistible!  I am using the little bear from the set with one of the greetings from “Apple of My Eye”.  I went with a clean and simple layout as suggested by this week’s challenge at The Paper Players.

I always love projects that take advantage of two-sided paper, so this collar fold makes me happy!  The designer paper measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  I used my trimmer to make a 1 3/4″ long cut at mid-height (2 3/4″ from top edge).  Then I used my scoring tool and a straight edge to score from the top and bottom corners to the endpoint of the cut.  That made it easy to fold back the corners.

Thanks for checking out my challenge card – you can see all of the entries in this challenge at The Paper Players.

If you are a fan of “Bear Hugs”, you may also like this fun fold / slider card.  Click here for more details.

Sky is the Limit

CCMC390

I thought I would take advantage of the fact that this challenge is very colorful, but still masculine.  I have been anxious to use the Sale-a-bration set “Sky is the Limit”.

The World Traveler Embossing Folder can be found in the Occasions Catalog, and the greeting is from “Number of Years”, also from the Occasions Catalog.

Hope you will take the time to check out the inspiration from my talented teammates at Create with Connie and Mary.  We would love to have you play along with this challenge!

This is the home decor frame that we are making in classes this week.  Two different suites from the Occasions Catalog are represented here – Love Blossoms and Birthday Bouquet.  I chose to add Birthday Bouquet because I love the soft Pool Party and Mint Macaron with Blushing Bride – and there are so many great embellishments in both of these suites.  Don’t you love how easy it is to coordinate products?

I will have a limited number of kits available for sale after my classes this week.  The finished project fits inside the 8″ x 10″ frame or shadowbox of your choice (not included).  The Pool Party background and all pieces shown are included along with directions.  There are no stamps or inks required to create this kit – all you need are your adhesives.  Please contact me at buckeyeinklingsorders@gmail.com if you are interested, and I will invoice you via Paypal.  The cost of each kit is $18, and shipping is $3.50.

Bear Hugs Gate Fold Slider

BearHugs2w

I couldn’t resist these bears from “Bear Hugs” in our 2016 Occasions Catalog.  Aren’t they so cute?  This is a card that we made in club this weekend, and it is a fun fold.  The bears are on a band, and when you slide it off and open the gate fold, this is what you see…

BearHugs3w

You may have to watch the beginning of the video to get the full effect.  The Mossy Meadow pieces are attached to the front panels.  As the card is opened, they slide to create the diamond-shaped opening over the greeting.  The diamond grows larger as the card is opened.  It looks so complicated and impressive, but it is actually easy to create.  I have created a video with directions (below).  Scroll past the video to see pictures of the other samples shown in the video.

Here again, front and inside:

This one also uses Birthday Bouquet designer paper, but the stamp set is “Birthday Blooms”.  This one was created by my upline Mindy Gray.

I received this one in a swap.  It was created by my friend Candy Michael, and it uses the Love Blossoms Suite from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.

Interactive cards are so fun – hope you’ll give this one a try!

More Than Numbers

DSC_1770w

“Number of Years” is a set of watercolored images that includes more than just numbers.  That pretty sprig of greenery and the flowers are part of the set.  I CASEd this card from my upline Mindy Gray.  She sent me the beautiful card below, and I used her design to make my card for my good friend Nancy.

Love Blossoms

CCMC389

I kept my card simple to go with this simple sketch, and I used it to show off one of the beautiful patterns in the Love Blossoms designer series paper stack.

DSC_1781w

The patterns coordinate beautifully with the Bloomin’ Heart thinlit die which I used to create my butterfly.

DSC_1782w

There are two layers of gold foil here – each started as a solid butterfly.  I cut one of the butterflies with the Bloomin’ Heart die, and I glued them together.  The embellishments are from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  All of these products can be found on pages 16-17 of the Occasions Catalog.

Thank you for checking out my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  Click here to see what my talented teammates have created – hope you’ll play along!

A Classic Favor

DSC_1778w

Papercrafted sour cream containers are classic treat holders.  I make them over and over, and thankfully we get new papers each season to give them a fresh look.  These are each made from a full sheet of our 6″ square Love Blossoms paper stack.

The one on the left is made in the traditional way – with sticky strip holding each end closed and edges crimped.  The ends of the other one are done a little differently, so that you don’t have to rip it apart to open it.  You can open and close this one.

DSC_1779w

Open

DSC_1780w

Closed, without adhesive

My friend Amy Kunkle taught me how to do this.  Before doing anything else to the 6″ square of paper, I scored and folded each end back 3/8″.  Then I proceeded with the construction as usual.  I did use sticky strip to hold the bottom closed, but I simply pressed the top end together.  Neat, huh?

(Click here for basic Sour Cream Container directions – sizes will vary slightly.)

I also want to point out the changes I made to my Honeycomb Embellishment.  I trimmed it a bit to look like a heart.

DSC_1775w

I started by cutting a folded honeycomb along the lines shown to make the rough half-heart shape on the right.

DSC_1777w

I applied the honeycomb to my tag, and then used my Paper Snips to shape it a bit more.  The stamp is from “Bloomin’ Love”, and the great twine is a leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit.  The stamp on the other container is retired.
