Peaceful Pines for CCMC381

CCMC381

Here is this week’s Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge.  There are so many directions you could go with this one.  I chose trees.

DSC_1613w

I used “Peaceful Pines” in the foreground with a line of trees from the Sleigh Ride Edgelits in the background.  I made the snow in my sky by tapping my Craft White pad to my Softly Falling embossing folder.  I pressed my Night of Navy mat to the inked surface, but I did not run it through the Big Shot – I simply rolled over it with my brayer to make sure all of the surface made contact.

The snowflake and greeting are also from “Peaceful Pines”, and the designer paper is from the Season of Cheer collection.

Thanks so much for checking out my card.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see what my talented Thursday Challenge teammates have come up with.  Hope you will be inspired to play along!

November Greetings a la Carte

Here is the “menu” for next week’s Greetings a la Carte classes.

If you are signed up, please let me know which you would like to make.  Keep in mind that the greeting can be changed quite easily on most of these designs.  If you have a different card choice from a recent class, please let me know – I may be able to accommodate you.  There is still room in both sessions, Thursday, November 19 at noon or 6pm.

This class is a Stamp-a-Stack where you create cards in groups of eight.  The price varies, based on design, and each card comes with a mat piece for the inside (except the heavy white cards).  Dimensionals and envelopes are included.

You can sign up for more than one design, or multiples of designs.  Depending on how many sets you choose, you may not be able to completely assemble them during the class time, but I will make sure you do the steps you need to complete with my supplies.  You can plan to share sets with a friend, if you don’t want 8 of a kind, but I do ask that you each order one set to hold a place for each of you in class.

Berry Merry Wreath Fun Fold

DSC_1609w1

This fun fold was one of our club projects this weekend, and here’s what’s really fun about it…it is much easier than it looks!  Plus it is versatile.  You can highlight any images and shapes on the front panel.

DSC_1612w1

If you can make one slice and three scores in a piece of Whisper White cardstock, you can do this.  I made a video to show you (scroll down for video) – I think it is more convincing than a diagram and text.

Here’s the other fun thing about this card…the stamping!  I know I have said this before –

MORE STAMPING = MORE FUN!!

I used “Berry Merry” from the Holiday Catalog.  When I first saw it, I didn’t understand that it is a builder set.  It just looked like a bunch of weird clusters.  Those aren’t clusters; they are individual images to build with, 17 of them.  That is how I made the wreath, and that is also shown in the video.  The individual stamps are much more obvious in this image from the online store than they are in the catalog.

Hope you will give this a try – the fun fold, the stamp set, or both!

Buckeye Inklings Colors

CCMC380

These colors are perfect for my site, aren’t they?  I bet you are expecting a Buckeye-themed card.  I actually made one, but I used non-Stampin’ Up! thinlits.  It is not my challenge card, but I will show it at the end of the post.  Here is my card for this week’s challenge:

DSC_1599w

This is one of those cards that uses a random sampling of products.  I used “Lots of Joy” for the plaid tree, and it is heat-embossed in black.  The background stamp is from “Holly Jolly Greetings”.

The thinlit word is cut from red foil with one of the Seasonal Frame Thinlits Dies, and the tree shapes in the black glimmer paper are made with a thinlit from the Square Pillow Box set.

The Washi Tape is Everyday Chic, and I added metallic sequins.  You all know what your work area looks like when you put this many random things together, right?  You actually get out and try twice as many things as you actually use, so there is not one square inch of work surface showing by the time you are done.

While I had all that stuff out, I made a card for my favorite Buckeye…

Gift Card Envelope Thinlit

DSC_1605w

Since I am working on Craft Fair projects this week, I just have to take a minute to point out how easy it is to make gift card holders with our Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlit.  One six-inch square of cardstock or designer paper, and one pass through the Big Shot, and voila! – you have the enclosure for your gift card.

So, what can you do with all the extra time you have saved?  Grinch punch art is only one option!  🙂

I made my Grinch with the Decorative Label punch and the Tree punch.  I cut about an 1/8″ off the bottom of the Tree shape so that it would match up nicely with the trim I made from the retired Scallop Square punch.  I also used a retired punch pack flower for the pompom.

The So Saffron eyes are punched from the Owl Builder, but I used my carved pencil eraser (see post here) to “stamp” the pupils.  I debated about stamping them in red, but then thought that would look too mean.  The eyebrows are the candles from the Cupcake Builder punch.

This thinlit is not just for Christmas.  I needed quick gift card holders last week, and made the ones shown below.

DSC_1587w

You can see how they open in this picture.  I used those great September 2015 Paper Pumpkin stamps along with “to/from” from the “Oh, What Fun” stamp set in our Holiday Catalog.

Flurry of Wishes

DSC_1600w

I loved this fun fold by Jenny Engelke so much that I had to CASE it right away.  I used “Flurry of Wishes”.  Click here to see her original card using “Among the Branches”.

DSC_1603w

The center panel lifts up to reveal the message.

DSC_1602w

My center panel measures 3 3/8″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, and I used the 2 1/2″ circle punch to make the window.  This piece wraps around the back of the Basic Gray card base.  The Shimmer White below it measures 3 5/8″ x 5 1/2″.   The Basic Gray card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Thanks for stopping by!

October 2015 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

DSC_1572w

I meant to post this yesterday but time got away from me.  I love this use of the October 2015 Paper Pumpkin stamps to make a holiday wreath!  This card was created by Mary Jane Ebie, and it uses only two of the stamps that are included with the October kit.  There are more flowers and leaves, and some great year-round greetings.  Take a look at the video below to see the full kit.

Have a great weekend!

Vintage Leaves

CCMC379

This week’s sketch can be used in so many different ways – I was in the mood for leaves, so I used “Vintage Leaves” in place of the circles.
