Open House

I wanted to share a little more about last night’s Open House, but didn’t have it together this morning to do so!  I have a few pictures, including a photo of what we made.

First let me say a big thank you to my wonderful teammates who helped me pull this off!  From prep, to set-up, to helping with stamping and assembling, to clean-up…they were always offering help, and they are the best!  I got so many nice comments from those who attended, and that is a compliment to these great ladies, too, because I couldn’t do it without them!

The prep…someone recently said to me that she was glad my husband has a pool table to hold up all my Stampin’ Up! stuff!

More samples – this is my favorite table!  These are the samples that my customers brought to share.  We have a nice tradition of sharing.  It is so awesome to have this wide range of ideas on display DSC_1347w

Joyful Season

DSC_1305w

I can’t help but be in the holiday spirit after my Open House and the release of our awesome Holiday Catalog yesterday.  Thank you to those of you who came out to Lake Cable to see and try new products last night!

I love cardinals year-round, so I was excited to see this cardinal set, “Joyful Season”, in our Holiday Catalog.  The branch is done in three steps – outline and filler on the branch, and then berries.  There are several stamps for the cardinal, too.  I used three – outline, body color and beak.

You can see a few other new products here, too – Season of Cheer designer paper, Gold Cord, Snowflake Elements, Curvy Corner Trio Punch.  There’s so much great new stuff available – please contact me if you need a catalog, or check it out in the online store.

Festive Flower Pillow Box

DSC_1304w

This is another sneak peek from the Holiday Catalog, but now the wait for these sneak peek items is down to just one day!  The sales period for this year’s Holiday Catalog starts tomorrow, September 1.  Our store will be flooded with new items for fall and for the upcoming holidays.

This great pillow box is cut with a new thinlit set, and that gorgeous poinsettia?  It is made from a coordinating stamp set and punch bundle – “Reason for the Season” and the Festive Flower Builder Punch.

The pillow box is great for a small gift, or a gift card.  Make it for a different occasion and it could hold candy or a favor.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  …and the fall holidays!  Please contact me if you would like a Holiday Catalog, or check out the new items in the online store, starting tomorrow.

Also, don’t forget that my Blog Candy contest ends today.  Enter a comment on last Monday’s post by noon EST to enter.

Lots of Joy Project Kit

I am currently taking orders for my Lots of Joy Project Kit.  This kit makes an 8″ x 10″ sampler, suitable for framing, using the “Lots of Joy” stamp set and Merry Moments designer paper from the Annual Catalog.  It also includes a lot of great embellishments from the upcoming Holiday Catalog.

The completed project will make a festive addition to your holiday decor!  The design includes an arrangement of sampler squares that coordinate with the ones shown, and it looks like a present itself as a paper ribbon and bow tie it all together.  It looks equally great in an open frame or a shadow box (frame not included).

My Project 24-001

Mossy Meadow background / Cherry Cobbler background

My picture shows a small section of the completed project – on the left, it is shown with a Mossy Meadow background; on the right, the same section of the project is shown with a Cherry Cobbler background.

The kit contains the following items:

Lots of Joy stamp set, please specify clear or wood

Background cardstock, please specify Mossy Meadow or Cherry Cobbler

Corrugated and designer paper for sampler squares, cut and ready for assembly

Designer paper pieces to make the ribbon and bow

Punched pieces and embellishments to decorate each square

Full size color photo of completed sampler and detailed instructions

Not included:

Ink to stamp the images – I used Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler

Frame

The kit cost of $35 + shipping, includes a clear-mount stamp set.  If you would like the stamp set in wood, the cost will be $43 + shipping.  If you would like components to make an additional sampler, please add $12 per additional sampler.  These completed projects will make great Hostess Gifts for your holiday get-togethers!  For every kit ordered, please specify the color of the background.

If you already own the stamp set, you may specify a different stamp set (up to $19 if paying the clear-mount price of $35, or up to $27 if paying the wood-mount price of $43.)

Please allow three weeks to receive this kit if you order before Sept 1 – I cannot purchase the Holiday Catalog merchandise before that date.  After Sept 1, delivery time will be approximately two weeks.

Please contact me at buckeyeinklingsorders@gmail.com to order.  I will invoice you via Paypal.

If you are local, this will be offered as a class throughout the fall.  Watch my newsletter and calendar for details.

Have a great weekend!

Chalk it up

CCMC370

I saw the Basic Black in the Create with Connie and Mary challenge colors this week, and I thought “chalkboard”.

DSC_1291w

I just love the large greetings and funky script in “Watercolor Words”.  I heat embossed the words with white embossing powder to create a bright black and white contrast.  Big greetings make a great focal point.  The heart is from the same set, and I cut it out by hand.  The designer paper is from the black and white Everyday Chic collection, colored with a brayer.  If you don’t mind a little heat embossing, this is a fun and easy card!

Be sure to check out all of the fabulous challenge team cards at Create with Connie and Mary.  Hope you will be inspired to play along with this color challenge!

Holiday Sneak Peek Blog Hop

11668157_10154008214397222_973980801_n

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for August. This month we are excited to give you a sneak peek at products that will be available from the Holiday Catalog starting on September 1.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

My project showcases some great fall products, primarily the stamp set “Lighthearted Leaves” and the new fall designer series paper “Into the Woods”.

DSC_1292w2

I used some other new goodies, too – the stamp set “Acorny Thank You” and the coordinating Acorn Builder Punch; “Into the Woods” Cotton Ribbon; and “Into the Woods” Elements.  (The Leaflets Framelits that coordinate with the leaf stamp set are already available.)

The front panel of this card is only 2″ tall, and it opens to reveal the greeting.

I started with a Rich Razzleberry base, 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.  I used my trimmer to cut away a portion of the front panel.  This card type is fun because it’s different, and it gives you a great way to showcase that beautiful paper!  Plus, if you are not inclined to write a lot on the inside of your cards, this is perfect!

I CASEd my teammate Carol Coy’s card, and I want to show you hers, too.  It has been hanging in my craft room, getting rave reviews.  Carol used “Pretty Petals”.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas here!  I am only showing products from one of our new suites…there are so many more!!  The new Holiday Catalog is awesome!

Remember that currently you are at my blog – Chris Slogar – so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next in the list.  You are in for a real treat!  Have fun!

Fall Paper Pumpkin Gift and Blog Candy

DSC_1279w

I used “Lighthearted Leaves” from the upcoming Holiday Catalog to create this note card and favor set for my new Paper Pumpkin Subscribers.  The favor is a matchbook that opens as shown below.

DSC_1281w

Paper Pumpkin is Stampin’ Up!’s monthly subscription kit that delivers an all-inclusive project to your door every month – all you need is adhesive.  As an example, this month’s kit makes 6 note cards and 3 gift boxes (see video below).  All of the kits include stamps and ink that you can use over and over on your own projects.

Paper Pumpkin is on sale to new subscribers through September 10.  New subscribers can try it for the first two months for half off, at a cost of $9.98 + tax (shipping is included).  There is no subscription length – you can quit at any time.  Click here to sign up, and please let me know when you do so I can send you a notecard and favor.

Also today, I have Blog Candy to celebrate the second anniversary of my Buckeye Inklings site!

DSC_1283w

Simply leave a comment on this post about anything on my site – if you don’t know what to say, just tell me what your favorite Annual Catalog or Holiday Catalog item is – and you will be entered to win the items shown.

Comments must be entered on this post by next Monday, August 31 at noon EST.  I will use a random number generator to pick the winner.  Please enter only once.  I would love to receive comments from any country, but I am sorry, I can only ship the prize within the US.

Thanks for stopping by – I hope to hear from you!  Click on “Leave a Reply” to add your comment.

Watercolor Words

DSC_1171w

This card is a CASE of Kylie Bertucci’s card that you can see here.  I just loved this background technique so much that I had to try it myself.  I used “Watercolor Words” for my sentiment.

DSC_1170w

You have to make this card in groups of three – can you see how the strips on these three are related?

I stacked three mats of cardstock – in this case Island Indigo, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay – and cut random wavy lines through all three at once.  I was careful to keep the strips in order as I cut them off the mats so I would be able to match them up as I attached them to my cards.  I attached them to 4″ x 5 1/4″ mats of Whisper White cardstock to create the background pieces that were then attached to the card bases.  It is hard to see that extra mat layer in the picture, but it is there.

Thanks for looking!  Have a great weekend!
