“Hooray!”

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge is this fun sketch. I love the diagonal lines, and to me, they just called out for washi tape. Here’s my card:

I made this card to congratulate someone special. I think the bright colors and stars are perfect for a celebration. The washi tape and designer paper is from the Cherry on Top collection, and the stars are from the set “Be the Star”.

Wishes on a Pedestal

This easy card has a bunch of great new things that work together beautifully – “Build a Birthday” and “Happy Birthday Everyone” stamps, Cherry on Top designer series paper, metallic thread and bright colors. These are so many of my favorite new things, so this card is a very appropriate entry into this week’s StampInkPaper Challenge.

Inspired by my teammate Amy Kunkle at {crazy}beYOUtiful, I am also using a # today and adding this picture to my Instagram account, buckeyeinklings. Punch Art Angel

My butterfly thinlits have been out on my desk pretty regularly, and it was only a matter of time before those great wings were put to other uses. This punch art angel gives us another look ahead to the holiday season. The greeting is from a retired hostess set, but everything else is still available. The pieces of the angel are shown below.

I think she will make a great addition to tags and favors, too!

I wasn’t done cleaning up from Card Buffet when he showed up! He will eat cardstock scraps, but he’s not crazy about the dimensional liners. They stick to his nose and mouth, and he can’t quite spit them out. He doesn’t look too happy here, does he?

Gold Dragonfly

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge is a pretty color challenge. For me, it was also a great reminder to use Perfect Plum. It is a color that I have been neglecting.

The dragonfly from “Awesomely Artistic” is so eyecatching, and I heat embossed it on vellum for this card. The foliage is also heat embossed on the tag. I used watercolor paper for the tag, and I washed over it with my Aquapainter and Mint Macaron ink. After the tag was dry, I stamped the splatter with Mint Macaron.

Oldies but Goodies

I still love this already-retired set from this year’s Occasions Catalog, “Your Perfect Day”. It will join my collection of “keepers” – you know, some stamps are with you for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime. Isn’t that how the saying goes?

We are making this card in Card Buffet this week – thankfully I still have a stash of that lovely Something Borrowed designer paper. This card has a bling factor that is hard to see in the picture. The little flowers are punched from glimmer paper, and the cake is decorated with Dazzling Details.

I have another card to show today, thanks to Mary Jane Ebie. She made this with a retired stamp set along with some great new products. The retired set is “Embellished Events”. This would make a great anniversary or a wedding card.

The animal print from the new Go Wild designer paper collection looks so elegant with Tip Top Taupe and Basic Black. She also used the new Greetings Thinlits and created a shadow by stacking two greetings. Love that effect!

Two Challenges in One

This week’s sketch challenge at The Paper Players leaves a lot of room for interpretation. I wanted to show off that great Timeless Elegance designer paper, so I used a large shape from Lots of Labels to make my tag. Here’s the sketch:

In addition, the Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge asks for favorite new stamps. Since I have been waiting for a nice big anniversary greeting, “Timeless Love” is a favorite new set. I love the size and font of this greeting, and I know it will see a lot of use. The other stamps in the set are beautiful too!

Besides the designer paper and stamp, I used several new products on this card – the Tip Top Taupe cardstock and lace, Lots of Labels framelits and coordinating pierce mat, and Banner Triple Punch.

This card is part of this week’s Card Buffet. There is still plenty of room in the evening session on Wednesday at 6:30pm. Please contact me if you would like to join us.

Pretty Petals

I think that you will find that Pretty Petals designer paper lives up to its name. I have only used a 1 1/2″ strip of it here, but I think it brings just the right amount of “pretty” to the card. This card will be in next week’s Card Buffet, and there is still plenty of room in the evening session on Wednesday at 6:30pm, and a few spaces here and there in the other sessions.
