CASE-ing Stampin’ Up!

DSC_0386w

I have two more Birthday Blast cards to show off today, both CASEd from Stampin’ Up!  The card on the left is like the card on page 11 of the Occasions Catalog.  The shaker card is from stampinup.com.

BirthdayBlastBuckeyeInklings

This one is quite simple – I added a 1 1/2″ strip, punched at both ends with the Banner Triple Punch, over the stamped card base, doily and 2″ Flirty Flamingo circle.  There is also a bit of Silver Metallic thread peeking out.

BirthdayBlastShaker1BuckeyeInklings

The 4 1/4″ shaker cards use the Sprinkles Embellishments from the Cool Treats Suite in the Occasions Catalog.  I used a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White, scored at 4 1/4″ for the card base, and I attached the shaker to the front.

DSC_0389w

This is what the underside of the shaker piece looked like before the card base was attached.  I started with a 4 1/4″ square of designer paper*.  I cut a circle with the largest of the Layering Circles Framelits, and then attached a 3 3/4″ square of Window Sheet over the opening with Sticky Strip.

I added an Adhesive Foam Strip around the perimeter of the circle.  Note that one strip was not long enough, I added an additional piece to finish.

At this point, I used my Embossing Buddy on the inside of the shaker before adding the sequins, and before removing the backing from the foam strips.  I simply swiped the Embossing Buddy over the window sheet and against the foam strips.  This cuts down on static from the Window Sheet, and it also helps to keep the sequins from sticking to the sides of the foam strips.

Once the sequins were added, I removed the backing from the foam strips.  I then attached the card base by pressing the front of the card base to the foam strips, lining up the top edges of the card with the top of the designer paper.

(*You can cut the designer paper 4 1/4″ x 4″ instead, in order to get more pieces from your 12″ paper.  If you do cut this square short, make sure the shortfall is at the bottom of the card so the Star Blast piece will cover it.)

BirthdayBlastShaker2BuckeyeInklings

The Flirty Flaming piece that covers the window started as a 4 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle.  I cut it with the Star Blast edgelit, and I heat embossed the greeting before attaching it to the card.  The last step was to add ribbon.

Hope you’ll try this – these turn out so cute!

What a Blast!

HappyCelebrationsBirthdayBlast

The Star Blast Edgelit makes a statement on a card.  I paired it up here with the “Happy Celebrations” stamp set and Party Animal designer papers.  I sprinkled in a few silver enamel stars, too.  So fun!

I used the edgelit on a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Tangerine Tango.  Behind the star blast, the spotted paper measures 3 3/4″” x 3″ and the Emerald Envy cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The Crushed Curry print measures 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″.

More Chicks!!

DSC_0381w

In case you are here for the card, let’s talk about it first.  I used the free Sale-a-bration set “Hey, Chick” and the cool new Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder along with the cheery bright colors of the Affectionately Yours designer paper collection.

The Watermelon Wonder mat measures 3 3/4″ x 5″, and the hexagon folder creates deep, dimensional texture. I added a 3″ square of designer paper, and the matted square around the chicken image measures about 2 3/4″.

I have more chick pictures from my childhood to share, too.  I shared some pictures from my grandparents’ farm a few weeks ago (click here for that post).  They farmed on 44 acres near Steubenville in the Ohio River Valley.  I grew up on a 1/4-acre lot in a suburb of Cleveland, a totally different setting.  However, on occasion, we had chicks at our house.

When you have a mom who grew up on a farm before becoming a science teacher, you may be lucky enough to have some really fun home experiments!  This is a “repurposed” electric skillet being used as an incubator on our kitchen table.  As you can see, it worked great!

Even better, check out this new use for the top of our popcorn popper…

IMG_3832w

Under a heat lamp, it provided awesome viewing for curious eyes, and no, it was never used again for popcorn 🙂

IMG_3833w

This is my brother and sister watching the miracle of life!  It takes about 21 days for a chicken egg to hatch, and I can just remember how exciting it was to wake up and check the incubator each morning after the time had passed.

IMG_3856w

When we hatched chicks, they stayed with us for a week or so until they started learning to fly out of the box.  At that point, we took them to my grandparents’ farm where they would latch on to a hen.  Mother hens were always so willing to adopt!

You can select “Hey, Chick” for free during Sale-a-bration with your $50 order.  A $50 order also earns a Buckeye Point in my Loyalty Rewards Program, and I will send you the Featured Card shown near the top of the right column on this site.  Click here to shop now, or use the carousel below to access the store.

Have a great day!

“So Very Much” Fun Fold

SoVeryMuchBuckeyeInklings

This type of fun fold is fabulous for showing off coordinating papers, and this large greeting from the free Sale-a-bration set “So Very Much” makes a perfect focal point.  I love the pretty script with these patterns from Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper.

SoVeryMuchOpenBuckeyeInklings

Both of the base pieces that make up this card swing open to reveal a panel that you can personalize with a message.  I have also added flowers and leaves from “Swirly Bird”, and there is a little edge of doily peeking out from under the Sahara Sand base piece.

Dimensions are as follows:

Rich Razzleberry 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″

Sahara Sand 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″

Whisper White 3 1/4″ x 4″ (cut two)

Designer Paper 2 1/2″ x 4″ and 5 1/4″ x 4″

You can select “So Very Much” for free during Sale-a-bration with your $50 order.  A $50 order also earns a Buckeye Point in my Loyalty Rewards Program, and I will send you the Featured Card shown near the top of the right column on this site.  Click here to shop now, or use the carousel below to access the store.

More Avant Garden Note Cards

AvantGardenNotesBuckeyeInklings

These note card sets are super-easy to make with our pre-cut and pre-scored Whisper White note cards.  The note cards come in packs of 20, with envelopes, for only $6.  I put four note cards and envelopes in one of our Medium Clear Envelopes, and I tied it up with ribbon.

I used the stamp set “Avant Garden” and I inked the flower image with two colors in each of these sets.  On the left, I inked the flower stamp with Peekaboo Peach, and then I added Tangerine Tango at the center of the flower with a dauber.  The leaves are Wild Wasabi.  On the right, I used Pink Pirouette with some added Flirty Flamingo.

“Avant Garden” is one of the items you can select for free during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order.  A $50 order also earns a Buckeye Point in my Loyalty Rewards program, and I will send you the Featured Card shown at the top right of my home page.  Click here to shop now, or click on any of the items in the carousel to link directly to a product.

Tasty Trucks and Throwback Trucks

DSC_0355w

I have this little taco truck from “Tasty Trucks” in my Card Buffet this week, but it got me thinking of another favorite truck set, “Loads of Love”.  I put that truck into this same setting.

DSC_0356w

The designer paper is from the Carried Away collection, and these are colored with Watercolor pencils and a Blender pen.  “Loads of Love” and the accessories (oh, how we love accessories!) are from 2004.  I unearthed a card that I made in that time period with these sets…

DSC_0357w

My mom has a collection of cards that I have made for her, and this was still in it.  Check out that fancy stitching – yes, that was done on a sewing machine.  I don’t believe the papers are from Stampin’ Up!, but the image along the bottom was probably created with a Stampin’ Up! wheel.

Have a great day!

Party Animal Designer Series Paper

PartyAnimalBuckeyeInklings

This is a fun and bright paper collection, and so perfect for birthdays!  This card is a CASE of a card that I received from Mindy Gray.  It has been a popular choice in my Card Buffet this week.

The stamps and framelits I used here are from the Balloon Adventures bundle.  The presents measure 2 3/8″ x 2 3/8″ and 1 1/2″ x 2 3/4″.

Thanks for stopping!

Lift Me Up

The Carried Away designer paper collection is one of the products you can choose for free with a $50 order.  It coordinates beautifully with the Lift Me Up bundle from the Occasions Catalog.

The card bases are 4 1/4″ x 9 3/4″, scored at 5 1/2″.  There is a 4″ square Night of Navy mat on each card front, with squares of designer paper measuring 1 7/8″.  The greetings are stamped on 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper White mats that are attached to the inside of the cards.

There is a layer of Vellum behind the Night of Navy hot air balloon, while the one below is backed with pieces of colored cardstock that were cut with framelits from the bundle.
