A Couple of Challenges

ccmc430

In addition to this week’s color requirement, I decided to also challenge myself to make a one-layer card.  I used a stamp set that has quickly catapulted into my favorites, though I had a hard time using it at first.

dsc_0145w

The set is “Totally Trees”, and the hardest part of this card was stamping the colors lightly.  I stamped off the Perfect Plum shape twice, and I love how transparent it became.  The greeting is from “Thoughtful Banners”.

Thank you for checking out my challenge card.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the cards created by my talented teammates, as well as the entries as they come in.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

“Inspired by Nature” Blog Hop

thailand-grand-vacation-blog-hop

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for October. The theme this month is “Inspired by Nature”.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the projects.

I used “Totally Trees” in my project today.  Using the same layout, I made tree cards for all seasons, and I used 23 out of 27 stamps from this set in the process.

dsc_0139w

We are fortunate in Ohio to experience a great balance of all four seasons – well, perhaps a bit too much of winter.  The trees are turning here at the moment, so we will start with Fall…

Summer – we do have warm summers, but no palm trees in Ohio!  We have to go south for this scenery.

Window Sheet Cards

dsc_0120w

This card has been catching a lot of attention in my craft room this fall.  It is so remarkable because it is mostly clear.  It was made by my upline, Mindy Gray.  The base is a 4″ x 11″ piece of Window Sheet, scored at 5 1/2″.

dsc_0121w

The pictures don’t do it justice, but I hope you can make out the embossing on the Window Sheet.  The Sparkle folder was used here.

dsc_0126w

Since the card base is clear, adhesive has to be placed carefully, or covered on both sides of the Window Sheet.  Mindy added pieces on the inside of the front panel to cover the ground, the roofline, the tree and the moon.  The Pumpkin Pie hillside is duplicated on the inside of the card to create a spot for a greeting or a note.

We made a similar card in club this month, but this one is a Christmas card.

dsc_0130w

I only used the Window Sheet for the front of this card, and I used a piece of designer paper from the Presents & Pinecones collection as a backdrop.

dsc_0133w

In my version, I used a 4″ x 6″ piece of Window Sheet, scored at 5 1/2″ for the card front.  This score creates a 1/2″ wide fold.  I put sticky strip on both sides of this 1/2″ width, and I sandwiched it between the designer paper and a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock.  Both the designer paper and the cardstock measure 4″ x 5 1/2″.

There is less to hide on the back of the front panel in this design.  I just added a Whisper White “hill” to match the one on the front of the card.

These are really fun, and so eye-catching!  Hope you’ll give them a try.

Have a great Monday!

Kraft Gift Bag Gift Card Holders

dsc_0105w

Our Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bags make great gift card holders.  Simply fold up the lower 3″ of the bag, and two pockets are created.  I wrapped a 2″ width of Candy Cane Lane designer series paper around the width to create sides on the front pocket.

dsc_0106w

A card tucks nicely into the back pocket, the inside of the bag.  The Real Red cardstock measures 4 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ and the Whisper White measures 4″ x 3 1/2″.  The whole thing fits into a Medium envelope.

The greetings are from the “Tin of Tags” stamp set in this year’s Holiday Catalog.   The Washi Tape and Kraft Rope Trim are also current products.  The star is from the retired “Be the Star” set.

It’s a great time to plan your Christmas projects – the weather is turning, but we aren’t into the fast-paced holiday season yet.  Click on any of the products in the carousel to go to the online store.  If you would like an Annual Catalog and/or a Holiday Catalog, please contact me (stampyourworld@gmail.com) and I will be happy to send them to you.  Have a great weekend!

Halloween Greetings

ccmc429

This sketch gave me a good opportunity to use my “Spooky Fun” pieces for one last Halloween card.

dsc_0112w

The Halloween Night suite of products is the perfect complement to “Spooky Night” and the Halloween Scene edgelits.  I have also thrown in stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes collection.

Thankful Joy Fold

dsc_0108w

I used a retired greeting from last year’s “Six Sayings” on this Joy Fold card.  A Joy Fold card has two folding panels that overlap.

dsc_0109w

The Early Espresso base measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″.  The Dapper Denim measures 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  The Very Vanilla panels each measure 3″ x 4″, while the embossed Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz mats measure 4″ x 2 1/2″ and 4″ x 5 1/4″, respectively.

I have used solid cardstock, but this is a great card type for all kinds of coordinating papers, too.  I am sure you can imagine it made for any occasion.

Have a great day!

Thankful Thoughts

dsc_0099w

I love “Thankful Thoughts” because of the set’s coordinating greetings for the inside of cards.  Here’s the inside of mine…

dsc_0100w

Did you notice that fun detail along the fold?

dsc_0101w

After scoring my card base at 4 1/4″, I added 3 more score lines, each 1/8″ apart.  I got this idea from my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Teammate, Tracy May.  In fact, this card is a CASE of her “Swirly Bird” card from earlier this year.  See it here.

And here’s a look at the whole “Thankful Thoughts” stamp set.

Have a great day!

Peace This Christmas

dsc_0110w

“Peace This Christmas” contains a pair of greetings that are among my favorite for the holidays.  I love everything about them – the sayings, the font, and the coordination.

dsc_0111w

Isn’t it a great pair?  This set can be found in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  The designer paper is from the This Christmas Specialty collection, also in the Annual Catalog.

Have a great Monday!

Cookie Cutter Christmas Corner Flip

dsc_0053w

This Corner Flip card is easier than it looks – it relies on just two cuts on the front of the card base.  I used the Cookie Cutter bundle with products from the Candy Cane Lane suite to decorate my card.

dsc_0054w

You can see the two cuts that form an “L” on the inside of the card front.  I showed how to create this card base in a post last year – click here for those instructions.

Have a great weekend!

Holly Jolly Layers

ccmc428

Here’s a color combination that I wasn’t excited about at this time of year.  I have been embracing my warm fall colors and traditional Christmas colors.  But guess what?!  It turns out that these are great Christmas colors!

dsc_0094w3

I really wanted to use my Hostess Set “Holly Jolly Layers”, so I decided to just go for it with these colors.  I simply CASEd the sample in the Holiday Catalog.  The sample is made in red and green, but these challenge colors ended up looking really festive too!

dsc_0098w

I ended up liking these colors so well that I made this card for my monthly team swap!

Thank you for checking out my challenge card!  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the cards created by my talented teammates, as well as the entries.  Hope you’ll be insipired to play along!
