Candy Cane Lane and **Sale News**

dsc_2512w

This is my favorite of the designer papers in our holiday catalog.  Something about the crisp images and the huge pop of Real Red is so appealing to me.  This is probably the simplest group of cards we are making in my “a la Carte” classes this week, but the fun papers make them look special.

The big greeting is from “Wonderful Year”.  The set has two large greetings and coordinating greetings for the inside of the card.

And now for the sale news…

b3g1dsp_flyer_naw

Yay!  Candy Cane Lane is included!  But you can use any of the papers with a big greeting to make quick and easy cards like the one I have shown today.

Note the sale dates – the designer paper “Buy 3 Get 1” is for all of October while the other items are only on sale October 1-5.  Contact me if you would like me to take care of your order, or click here to shop in the online store.

Giving Thanks Blog Hop

GV Blog Header

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers hop for September. The theme this month is “Thankfulness”.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the projects.

I used the thanksgiving greeting from “Suite Seasons”, a set that has a little of everything for the holidays.  The leaves are from “Vintage Leaves”, and the copper foil trim is cut from the Cheerful Tags framelits.  The background stamp is from “Timeless Textures”.

The Cajun Craze piece is the part that actually folds on this card.  This piece measures 4″ x 10 1/2″, scored at 5 1/4″.  Once folded, it is mounted on a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake.

Thank you for visiting and for taking part in our blog hop.  Remember that currently you are at my blog – Chris Slogar – so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next, and enjoy!

Signs of Fall

dsc_0026w

Have you seen these cute swirls used to make pumpkins?  I have been using them this way on cards, but I also love this little favor that I CASEd from Anita Haines.

dsc_0028w

A small tray between the pumpkins holds the treat.  My tray started as a 3″ x 4″ piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, scored 1″ from each edge, and folded to make a box bottom.  You can make this tray wider, and I probably should have done that here to hold more Reese’s 🙂

We made these little pumpkin favors in club this weekend, and one of the gals suggested that this would be a cute design in reds to make an apple!!  So thank you Meghan, I love that idea!!

dsc_0023w

These are made with Real Red and Cherry Cobbler.  The greeting is from this month’s Paper Pumpkin.  Aren’t they super-cute?  So what is in these?

dsc_0024w

The one on the left holds a mini hand sanitizer, also suggested by Meghan.  Can you guess what Meghan’s profession is?  Apples, hand sanitzier…you guessed it, she is a teacher!

The other apple is stuffed with three regular-sized Ghirardelli squares.

Have a great Monday!

Sweet Home

dsc_0008w

The Home Sweet Home Thinlits make a cute 3D box, but along with the coordinating “Sweet Home” stamps, they make pieces that are great for cards, too.  I used this bundle yesterday for a Halloween card (below), but look how different the house looks with Fruit Stand papers and colors.

I see so many possibilities with all of the cute pieces that make up this bundle – and not just for the holidays.

Have a great weekend!

A Haunted House

CCMC425

I was feeling like something spooky for this sketch challenge…

dsc_0006w2

…and there is so much great stuff for Halloween in the Holiday Catalog, so it was easy!  I used the Halloween Night designer paper collection in the background and the Sweet Home bundle for the house.  I CASEd the house from a card my upline Mindy Gray sent me.  Don’t you just love the sponged vellum windows?  When I saw this house on her card, I had to have the bundle!

Totally Trees

dsc_0016w

“Totally Trees” is a set of 27 photopolymer stamps that include many two-step tree combinations (see the stamps below).  I’ve also thrown in a greeting made with “Labeler Alphabet”, which is quickly becoming a favorite because it can be used for unique greetings.

Thanks for stopping by – have a great day!

A Little Sunshine

dsc_0015w

This color combination has been on my “must CASE” list since early in the summer, when I received the card below in a swap.  The colors are Pear Pizzaz, Crushed Curry, and Watermelon Wonder.

dsc_0014w

This card was made by Amy Combs, and both use “Sunshine Sayings” and the coordinating thinlits.  Amy’s beautiful card used the Petal Burst textured impressions embossing folder, while I have used the Pretty Paisleys folder from the Holiday Catalog.

dsc_0013w

The Sunshine Sayings bundle was at the top of my Wish List when the annual catalog went live in June.  I have used the traditional greetings in this set over and over, but it is also great for creating special greetings.  Take a look at the stamps and thinlits below, and you can see the possibilities!

A Herd of Moose and One Happy Dog

In this blog entry, these are two very separate things.  Let’s start with the herd of moose…

dsc_0011w

If you make swaps, you know there is no prettier sight than finished swaps!  I used the moose from “Jolly Friends” for this fun card.

dsc_0012w

“Labeler Alphabet” gives you the ability to create your own greeting, so why not this?   Doesn’t it just go with a moose in a Santa hat?  The mistletoe and bow are from the Pretty Pines Thinlits.

And now to the happy dog…

dsc_2522w

Chip had a birthday last week – he hit double digits, 10 years old!  The party just wasn’t the same this year now that both of his girls are away, but he did have his traditional “pupcake”, frosted with peanut butter.

Joyful Nativity in Two Color Schemes

CCMC424

The original version of my card was made for this color challenge.

dsc_2506w

I used “Joyful Nativity” and “Totally Trees” with a bit of designer paper from the Presents & Pinecones collection.

dsc_2505w

For fun, I also made a Night of Navy version.  I was pretty sure I would like the design better in Night of Navy, but I actually think the trees show up better on the Emerald cardstock.  Color challenges are great for this kind of experimenting.

Thank you for checking out my card.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see all of the cards created by my talented teammates, as well as the entries.  Hope you’ll be inspired to play along!
