Easel Cards

I made three easel card layouts on last night’s Facebook Live. The first is shown above, decorated with products from the upcoming Butterfly Bouquet Suite. Products from this suite will be available on March 2, as an early release from the upcoming Annual Catalog.

This post is meant as a supplement to last night’s Facebook Live. I am presenting the pictures and dimensions are here for easy reference, but you may need to see the video for complete instructions. Please click here to see the video – and please join the Buckeye Inklings Stampers Group on Facebook to get notifications of all of my live videos.

The cards fold flat to mail. The six butterflies featured on these two cards are cut from the designer paper. One of the dies cuts six butterflies at once, and it lines up with both the stamp and one of the prints in the designer paper pack. Here’s a look at what will be available March 2…

Dimensions for this card are as follows…

  • Thick Basic White 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Basic White 3″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″
  • Designer Paper 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 3″ x 4 1/4″
  • Misty Moonlight or Calypso Coral 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″

The second easel card has a smaller focal point on a similar easel, but the easel looks like a banner behind it. The prop piece on the inside is also the greeting piece.

The designer paper pieces on this card are from the upcoming Annual Catalog.

Dimensions are as follows…

  • Thick Basic White 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Seaside Spray 3″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 1 7/8″, 3 3/4″
  • Designer Paper 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 3″ x 3″
  • Magenta Madness 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • Basic White – largest Stitched Square, approx 2 5/8″

My final easel card uses an easel piece of the same size as the one on the butterfly card, but the card is made in the opposite orientation. This is a CASE of a swap card I received from Candy Michael.

In this case, the easel props up a focal point that is smaller than the easel. I love how this turned out with a cute flower from Pretty Perennials and our Paper Blooms designer paper!

Dimensions are as follows…

  • Night of Navy 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 3″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″
  • Designer Paper (2) 1 1/4″ x 4″
  • Petal Pink 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ and 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
  • Basic White 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ and 2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″

These are all really fun layouts, and the best thing about them is that they can be used to showcase your favorite stamps and papers. I hope you will try them!

No-Waste Flap Card

I made this card in our virtual team meeting this week. Terri Meehan led our group to show us this layout, and we each made our own version with the papers we had chosen – I used prints from the Snail Mail collection.

What makes this fun fold special is how efficient it is. You can make these in quantity with very little waste.

The base piece starts as a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Coastal Cabana, scored at 5 1/2″. The Coastal Cabana mat for the front of the card is made by cutting a 3 1/4″ length off the base.

The remaining dimensions are as follows…

  • Blushing Bride 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • (2) Designer Paper patterns 3″ x 4″
  • Basic White 3″ x 4″

One of the designer papers is cut to 2″ x 4″ and 1″ x 4″ (the mushroom pieces in my example), and the other is matted for the front of the card. I used the Oval Occasions bundle to make my greeting.

Hey Birthday Chick Popping Flap Card

I made this interactive card last night on Facebook Live. It is a Popping Flap Card, CASEd from Tamara Houk at Together We Are HappiLeaStamppin. I just love how this works, and I have added a YouTube video below with complete instructions.

As you pull the tag end of the flap piece…

You get to a point where the flap slaps open to reveal the inner panels. It’s so fun, and it lends itself to all kinds of coordinating images from stamp sets. It was fun to pick out a collection of images and greetings from the Hey Birthday Chick bundle for my card.

Please find full instructions in the video below. If you are receiving this post in an email, please click here for the video.

Dimensions are as follows:

  • Cinnamon Cider 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • In Good Taste Designer Paper 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Garden Green 4 3/4″ x 7 1/2″, scored at 3 1/4″ and also 1/2″ from each edge along the length
  • Designer Paper 3″ x 3 1/2″ and 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • Basic White 3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″
  • Basic White 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″, scored first at 1/2″ from each end and then at every 1/8″ between the first two score lines
  • Designer Paper (2) 2 1/2″ x 3″ and (1) 3 1/4″ x 3″

Art Gallery Fun Fold

Welcome to the Trip Achievers Blog Hop for February! You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along through all of the projects.

I love a fun fold – especially one that uses designer paper! I used the stamp set Art Gallery with designer paper from the Fine Art collection for my card today.

Dimensions for this card are as follows:

  • Pretty Peacock 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Smoky Slate 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and 4″ x 5 3/4″, scored at 2 7/8″
  • Terracotta Tile 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″
  • Designer Paper 5 1/4″ x 6″, scored at 2″ (the designer paper gets folded into a 2″ flap and a 4″ section – take care to score the correct side if you have a directional print)
  • Basic White 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″ and Stitched Scallop Rectangle 2 1/2″ x 3 5/8″

I have a Sand & Sea version of this card as well. It is a great layout for any of your designer papers. It can also be made in the portrait orientation.

Thank you for visiting my site. Please use the list below to continue to the next blog on the hop!

In Bloom Fun Folds

I made some easy fun folds last night on Facebook Live. The first group uses the In Bloom and Oval Occasions bundles along with the fabulous Paper Blooms designer paper. The paper is one of the items you can choose for free with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration.

I CASEd this card from my upline Mindy Gray. The folding part of the base is smaller than a typical card, and it is mounted on a Petal Pink base piece that is embossed with the Tin Tile embossing folder.

Dimensions are as follows:

  • Petal Pink 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Night of Navy 3 1/2″ x 9 1/2″, scored at 4 3/4″
  • Designer Paper and Basic White 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″

The next card also features a smaller card mounted on a base piece. It has a opening through the card front that reveals a flower on the folding Basic White piece.

Dimensions are as follows:

  • Seaside Spray 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Night of Navy 4 3/4″ x 7″, scored at 3 1/2″
  • Basic White 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, scored at 3 1/4″
  • Designer Paper 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″

The third card is like the first, but the front flap is cut short to reveal a strip of designer paper.

Dimensions are as follows:

  • Rococo Rose 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Seaside Spray 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 3 3/4″
  • Designer Paper 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ and 3 1/4″ x 1″
  • Basic White 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″

These are great layouts for any designer papers and stamps. I used paper from the Berry Blessings collection with different stamps to create these cards. The “Hey Chick” card is like the first sample (above), and the “Darling Donkeys” is like the second.

The “Berry Blessings” card is based on the same dimensions, but it opens as shown. The Poppy Parade piece measures 4 3/4″ x 7″, scored at 3 1/2″.

I hope you’ll give these a try with your favorite suites! These layouts are so adaptable.

Sand & Sea Shaker

I put a shaker section in one of the shells in my collection on this card. It is made similar to the shaker tags from last month (click here for shaker tags).

The sequins in the shaker are from the Whale of a Time Suite. The video below has complete instructions. If you are receiving this post in an email, please click here for the video.

Playful Alphabet

I made cards in pairs for last night’s Facebook Live. The Playful Alphabet Dies create great letters, but also leave behind a great negative space. I think these dies are a fabulous basic – they are a very manageable size, and at $34 for the set of 58 dies, the price is right!

Whether using the negative or positive created by these dies, I love them with designer paper! To create this padded label shape, I first attached designer paper from the Well Suited collection to a piece of foam adhesive sheet (approximately 2 1/8″ x 4″). I cut the Tasteful Labels die and three of the letters in one pass on the Big Shot. Since there is only one “X” in the die collection, I made a second pass to cut the second “X”.

I cut cardstock letters from Seaside Spray, Blushing Bride, Misty Moonlight and Purple Posy to fill in the openings. These pieces are recessed in the label as they are not cut on foam. I thought these colors would also be nice for “BABY”.

The Seaside Spray mat measures 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and the Basic White measures 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.

The letters cut for the previous example are used here, mounted on hearts from the Many Hearts collection. The colors are Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana, Magenta Madness, Pacific Point, and Smoky Slate.

The Coastal Cabana mat measures 3 3/4″ x 5″ and the Basic White measures 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. The designer paper strip measures 2″ x 5 1/2″.

I made some Valentines using the same concept. The scalloped heart is from the Many Hearts dies. The squares are from the Layering Squares dies.

This card is made like last week’s gift card holders.

This is a CASE from an Artisan project I saw long ago – the Artisan had done the words “HAPPY DAY”. This really appeals to the Scrabble player in me:)

The Cherry Cobbler mat measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the Gray Granite measures 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. The designer paper strip measures 2″ x 3 7/8″.

Getting away from Valentines, I went to the Ice Cream Corner Suite for some inspiration, and I came up with these. Note that “HAPPY” would also fit the label shape shown. The mat sizes on each of these are the same as listed on the similar cards above.

These are super-fun! This is another one of those projects that you can do with your choice of papers and stamps. The more I looked through my stash, the more I wanted to make!

Thank you for checking out my projects, and thanks for any support you can give me in likes, follows, and shares on my social media.
