Purse Favors

I remade a longtime favorite project last night on Facebook Live.  I have always loved these little favors, and they look fabulous with papers and trims from this year’s Annual Catalog.  I have used the following papers – Come Sail Away, Mosaic Mood, and Magnolia Lane.

The base of the purse is a 6″ square of designer paper.  The single piece of designer paper is folded to create a pouch.  As you can see, you can fill these with candy, but they are also perfect for lip balm, gift cards, or other small gifts.

Click here to see full details from last night’s Live.  I have also included comments about altering the dimensions of this project.  You can easily change the length, width and thickness to suit your needs.

On to Adventure

“On to Adventure” is a new set of cute characters and greetings from this year’s Annual Catalog.  The full set is pictured below.  I made one of my favorite fun fold layouts here.  The Whisper White layer is the one that folds, and it is mounted on a Petal Pink base.

The Thick Whisper White measures 5 1/4″ x 7″, scored at 4″.  The Petal Pink base measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

The designer paper is from the Bird Ballad collection, and it measures 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″.  You only need a small strip to make a big impact!

Here’s a look at this cute stamp set…

Above the Clouds

Well…above the houses anyway, but just barely!  This weekend, my neighborhood got a close look at some of the hot air balloons participating in the  2019 Balloon Classic, part of the Football Hall of Fame’s annual Enshrinement Festival.  This balloon had just lifted off from one of the courts in my neighborhood.

Of course I am inspired to post a card made with the “Above the Clouds” bundle after a weekend of hot air balloon sightings…

I CASEd the Flirty Flamingo card on page 8 of our Annual Catalog, but I made it with different colors and a little designer paper from the Dinoroar collection.  The Pretty Peacock card base is streaked with white ink.  I simply dragged my Whisper White craft ink pad across the card front.  It’s a great effect, and easy!

Wish for It All Bundle

This week on Facebook Live I featured the Wish for It All Bundle.  This is a beautiful group of lacy stamps and dies!

The large cake is a really great background for a shaker card.  I cut the Petal Pink frame for the shaker from two stitched rectangle dies, measuring 3 5/8″ long and 4 3/8″ long.  The Window Sheet and stamped Whisper White piece measure 2 3/4″ x 4 1/8″.  The designer paper is from the Bird Ballad collection, and I filled the shaker with our Iridescent Sequins.

I used the same colors (Coastal Cabana and Petal Pink) for a simpler card too.  I used the Mosaic 3D embossing folder for my background mat, and I used the doily die to cut Petal Pink vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum collection.

The new 3D embossing folders are slightly thinner than the Dynamic embossing folders from past catalogs.  They still require only one acrylic plate in the Big Shot, but you will have to add a shim to a clear pate to create the right amount of pressure.  We also have a new blue 3D embossing folder plate available that is thicker than the clear plates.  This plate is intended for use with the new 3D folders, and I use it instead of the clear plate/shim combination.

The Whisper White piece measures 2 1/8″ x 2 7/8″ and the Petal Pink measures 2 1/4″ x 3″.

I love the look of the vellum doilies in every color.  They inspired me to create a few easy holiday note cards…

I used our precut and scored note cards with a stamp from “Butterfly Gala” for these thank you notes.  I hope you can see the doilies!  I attached the lacy cone shape to Old Olive cardstock and cut around the shape with scissors to make the tree.  The wreath is shown below.

I punched a 3/4″ circle from the middle of an Old Olive vellum doily and backed it with a 2″ circle of Old Olive that also had a 3/4″ circle punched from it.

Splitcoaststampers Tutorial

I am very happy to be the Guest Author of today’s Wednesday Tutorial at splitcoaststampers.com.  It is great to be able to give back to this site which has provided me with so much inspiration over the years!

My project is the Pop-Up Flower Pot Card that I first showed in April.  I remade it with bright and summery colors for my splitcoast tutorial.

This project is made from simple pieces, and it even folds flat to fit in an envelope!

The video below gives complete instructions.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

Annual Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the Trip Achievers Blog Hop for July!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the projects.

This month, we are again highlighting products from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  I am using one of my new “Go-To” stamp sets on an easy fold up gift card holder.  The stamp set is Time for Tags.

I made a simple wrap using designer paper from the Follow Your Art collection.  Everything about this is easy!!  The tag has a coordinating punch, and the base is simply a folded strip of paper.

The video below gives complete instructions.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

Thanks so much for taking part in our blog hop!  Please use any of the links below to travel to another blog on the list.

Tri-Fold Twist, Take 2

I have a remake of this week’s Facebook Live card, the Tri-Fold Twist card.  I wanted to refilm it for YouTube so that it would be easy to reference for instructions.  I made it with “Grandma’s House” and Grapefruit Grove papers for a totally different look.

I love how this card switches between portrait and landscape orientations!  I CASEd this fun fold from Anna Hofmann.  Click here to see her post.  The video below gives full instructions.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

Tri-Fold Card with a Twist

I used the beautiful Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Paper and Washi Tape to make these two projects last night on Facebook Live.  The card is a fun fold, and the gift card holder is an easy fold-up Origami envelope.

I CASEd this project from Anna Hofmann (see her card here), and I just love the fold!  The card is tied closed with Braided Linen Thread.  When you untie it and pull the triangles apart, the card base twists to a horizontal position (below).

There are two Mossy Meadow base pieces that overlap each other to make up the center panel.  Each measures 4″ x 10 1/4″, and each is scored at 5 1/2″.  The 5 1/2″ lengths of each make up the middle section of the card.

The other sections of each piece require a diagonal score – refer to the picture above for the orientation.  Each score makes a triangle with two 4″ legs.

The floral designer paper piece measures 3 7/8″ square, cut in half diagonally.  The two pieces with music notes start from a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of designer paper.  It is cut on the diagonal starting 5/8″ from opposite corners.  Refer to the pictures or last night’s video to see the orientation of this cut.  The two pieces created tuck under the triangles on the card “front”.

Above the Clouds Gift Card Holder

This is a remake of one of the cards I made last week on Facebook Live.  Last week, I made this with a Christmas/Reindeer theme, but this week, I want to show how versatile it is for any occasion.  I made a Birthday/Hot Air Balloon theme with the Above the Clouds Bundle and Dinoroar designer series paper.  You can use your favorite papers and stamps for any occasion.

I used two Stitched Nested Label dies (the largest size) to create a pocket at the open end of the card.  It’s a really simple design, but so fun!

Check out the video below for complete details.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

Simple Daisies <3

I’m keeping it really simple here with these fresh white daisies!  They really pop on the Lovely Lipstick gingham background – and we have this gingham in every color now!!  I used one of my Stitched Labels dies for the sweet centers, and the Well Said bundle for my greeting.  The Leaf Trim was very easy to tuck between the designer paper layer and the card base.
