Changing the Look of Kits

On Its Way Simply Sent The kits offered by Stampin’ Up! are great as designed, and in most cases, you just need to add a stamped sentiment to the pieces provided.  However, it is so easy to make small additions and design changes to personalize the look.

I took the On Its Way Simply Sent kit (AC p 161, Item 131373, $11.95/8 cards and envelopes) and added color to the card bases with my brayer.  On the left, I used Soft Sky, and on the right, Rich Razzleberry.  The card bases come with glossy stripes which resist ink, leaving you with a cool stripe!

All of the pieces shown come with the kit; I just added my own stamped sentiment.  The pieces that come in the kit are heavy cardstock stickers.  They are very easy to work with, and very forgiving if you need to move them!  The kit also comes with dimensionals, and I did use them for my greeting pieces.  Since those pieces are also stickers, I pounced the sticky backs with my embossing buddy before applying the dimensionals.  That way, they won’t stick where they’re not supposed to.

These Valentine bags are smaller, though, and perfect for a Ghirardelli square and a little 3″x3″ note card.  I just folded the top of the bag back onto itself, not quite matching the top and bottom edges.  Then I trimmed away the upper edge, which is the bottom of the bag, to form a pocket.  I also punched a half circle on that edge.

These Sweetheart Treat Bags are still available (Item 134610, $4.95/12 bags and accessories).  They come with the twine and the die-cut labels.  I added images from the Love You More stamp set.

Have a great day!
