Be Merry Window Card

I have another “Christmas in July” project to share, well ahead of our 2017 Holiday Catalog.  Everything I am using is available now, and I have to say, it will surprise me if there is a designer series paper in the Holiday Catalog that I like better than this Be Merry collection.  It could happen, but I will still love this paper from the Annual Catalog, too.  It is just so pretty with it’s crisp Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green graphic images!

We made this window card in club this month.  See how the greeting and ornament float between the cardstock pieces?

I have been a big fan of our Fine Tip glue for delicate die cuts, but I did find that I got better results with our new Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on this project.  The Fine Tip glue is a bit slippery on a window sheet, and even when I was very neat, I liked the look of the Adhesive Sheet better.  I am using a portion of the Happy Birthday thinlit for my greeting.

Above, I used Fine Tip glue to attach to the window sheet.  It looks really great from the front, and ok from the back.  But check out the one I made with the Adhesive Sheet…

I think it looks better, and it’s so easy to get a clean result.

These window sheet cards are so fun, and if you are not ready for Christmas projects, they are very adaptable to any thinlit words.

The card started with a 5 1/2″ x 6″ piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4″.  I attached my window sheet (2 3/8″ x 5 1/8″) with adhesive as shown.

The bottom of the card front is made up with a strip of Garden Green measuring 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  I set it in place to line up with the card back as shown.

Then I pressed the window sheet, again lined with adhesive, to the Garden Green strip.  This created the complete card front.  I used designer paper strips (1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and 1″ x 5 1/4″) to cover the window sheet edges.

Then I simply added the finishing touches.  The little tree is from “Merry Mistletoe” and the second half of the greeting is from “Star of Light”.  I picked a photopolymer set for the greeting because I could curve it to fit the Duet Banner punch.  The star on the tree is a Metallic Enamel Shape colored with a Sharpie.
