Memorial Day

Our country remembers its heroes today.  Saying “thank you” seems so inadequate when thinking of the tremendous sacrifices that are made by individuals and families in the service of our country.  I have the greatest respect for them, and I am grateful.  I also absolutely love to see the red, white and blue everywhere – such a classic and meaningful combination.

I have recently sorted out all of my red, white and blue papers, and I set them aside to use on the cards I make for a local group of Blue Star Mothers.  I am making a group of these diagonal cut cards over the holiday weekend, using my stash of Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy.

See the scalloped stripe in this group?  It was from my Christmas stash.  Between the Cherry Cobbler prints and Real Red prints, there are so many red/white combinations in our retired Christmas papers.  I also have a nice group of Dapper Denim papers in my patriotic collection.

The star bundle that I used is retired, but it works perfectly with this diagonal cut layout.  To make this diagonal cut card, simply score a sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock in half each way, and then cut it diagonally.  The designer papers are 4″ x 5 1/4″ pieces, cut diagonally.

If you would like to donate cards to a Blue Star Mothers group, please contact me at stampyourworld@gmail.com.  I donate mine through one of the gals in my club, and I know they always need cards.  I would be happy to arrange to get your cards into the right hands.

Happy Memorial Day!
