I made cards in pairs for last night’s Facebook Live. The Playful Alphabet Dies create great letters, but also leave behind a great negative space. I think these dies are a fabulous basic – they are a very manageable size, and at $34 for the set of 58 dies, the price is right!
This post is meant as a supplement to last night’s Facebook Live. I am presenting the pictures and dimensions are here for easy reference, but you may need to see the video for complete instructions. Whether using the negative or positive created by these dies, I love them with designer paper! To create this padded label shape, I first attached designer paper from the Well Suited collection to a piece of foam adhesive sheet (approximately 2 1/8″ x 4″). I cut the Tasteful Labels die and three of the letters in one pass on the Big Shot. Since there is only one “X” in the die collection, I made a second pass to cut the second “X”.
I cut cardstock letters from Seaside Spray, Blushing Bride, Misty Moonlight and Purple Posy to fill in the openings. These pieces are recessed in the label as they are not cut on foam. I thought these colors would also be nice for “BABY”.
The Seaside Spray mat measures 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and the Basic White measures 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.
The letters cut for the previous example are used here, mounted on hearts from the Many Hearts collection. The colors are Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana, Magenta Madness, Pacific Point, and Smoky Slate.
The Coastal Cabana mat measures 3 3/4″ x 5″ and the Basic White measures 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. The designer paper strip measures 2″ x 5 1/2″.
I made some Valentines using the same concept. The scalloped heart is from the Many Hearts dies. The squares are from the Layering Squares dies.
This card is made like last week’s gift card holders.
This is a CASE from an Artisan project I saw long ago – the Artisan had done the words “HAPPY DAY”. This really appeals to the Scrabble player in me:)
The Cherry Cobbler mat measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the Gray Granite measures 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. The designer paper strip measures 2″ x 3 7/8″.
Getting away from Valentines, I went to the Ice Cream Corner Suite for some inspiration, and I came up with these. Note that “HAPPY” would also fit the label shape shown. The mat sizes on each of these are the same as listed on the similar cards above.
These are super-fun! This is another one of those projects that you can do with your choice of papers and stamps. The more I looked through my stash, the more I wanted to make!
