I think color challenges are harder than sketch challenges.  I rarely limit myself to three colors, and the proposed colors are usually come in combinations that I wouldn’t choose.  Take this week for example 🙂

I think these colors worked out ok in my frog card, though.  The frog is made from the Playful Pals bundle.

playfulpalsfrog

I used the Shine On Specialty Designer Paper for my background.  The brown in these patterns is a little darker than Crumb Cake, almost like Soft Suede, but regardless, a neutral.  The designs are bright and quirky, and they stand out nicely.

This is the first time I have used this greeting from the set “And Many More”.  There are many greetings in that set that would work on this card, but couldn’t resist this one.  I am quite sure this is the first time I have used it.

The leaves are cut from the Botanical Builder framelits.  I sprayed them with water and crumpled them, and then pulled off a layer of the cardstock to make them look leathery.  The big flower is made up of two layers – Watermelon Wonder and Botanical Vellum – cut with one of the Floral Framelits.

Thanks for checking out my challenge card!  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see the cards created by my talented teammates.  The entries will post there, too, with links to each designer’s website.  Hope you’ll spend some time visiting those sites, and play along with our challenge!

Botanical Birthday Tag

botanicalpink

Some of the gals on my team have been making these flowers with bright pink centers, and I just love how that looks!  I used Pink Pirouette with a Melon Mambo center here, along with the pattern of leaves from the Botanical Gardens designer paper collection.  Since this print uses only the greens, it is a good one to pair with brights and pastels.  The greeting is from “Suite Sayings”.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Fun Ride

pedalpusher

Nothing says fun like a tandem bicycle.  I think this Cucumber Crush polka dot paper from the Shine On collection is really fun, too, so I paired it with the bike to create this lighthearted birthday card.  The tandem bicycle is part of the set “Pedal Pusher”, one of this year’s Sale-a-bration sets that can be chosen for free with a $50 product order.  The greeting is from “B.Y.O.P.”

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Monday!

Botanical Blooms Stamp Case Gift Set

botanicalclass

My upline Mindy Gray shared this beautiful project with me and gave me permission to offer it online.  The project uses a full-size wide stamp case as a container for a coordinated gift set.

DSC_1899w

The handled case is decorated with the Botanical Gardens suite of products, and it holds six 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ cards with envelopes (2 each of 3 designs), wrapped chocolates, and a coordinating pen.

I am offering a Class Planner, which includes 11 pages of illustrated directions, with product list, cutting instructions and detailed assembly instructions.  This project uses the Botanical Gardens suite of projects, as well as “Botanicals for You”, and “Suite Sayings” – though alternate greetings can be substituted for these sets.  Click here to purchase Class Planner.

I am also offering a “Class To Go”.  The Class To Go Kit includes everything you need to make one Gift Set.  Click here for complete details.

The local class will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at noon or 6 pm.  Class cost is $30, please contact me to register.

Lemons

CCMC397

I chose to use sections of lemon as the focal point on this sketch.  I guess I was just in the mood for some bright colors!

appleofmyeye

You can’t get much brighter than Crushed Curry and Cucumber Crush.  They go well with the citrus theme.  I haven’t used the Cherry on Top suite in a while, so it was fun to pull out the Cucumber designer paper and Washi Tape.  The Crushed Curry stripes are from the It’s My Party designer paper stack.

The image stamps are “Apple of My Eye” and the greeting is from “Perfect Pairings”.

Thank you for checking out my challenge card.  Please visit Create with Connie and Mary to see the cards created by my talented teammates as well as the entries in the challenge.  I hope you’ll be inspired to play along!

Team Meetings and More

DSC_1900w

One of the biggest perks of joining Stampin’ Up! is joining a community of people who share the same interest.  I am running a little late with my post today because I wanted to include pictures of the projects we made in our Isle of Ink Team Meeting last night in Columbus.  Isle of Ink is Terri Meehan’s group, and Terri is my upline’s upline, two generations above me in my Stampin’ Up! family.

Terri provided these projects for us to do at her meeting last night.  They were designed by Ronda Wade, and while I love the little fringed box and card set, I want to focus on the other card today.  Terri tweaked the design to use the designer paper very efficiently – you’ll love this!

DSC_1901w

The Crumb Cake front only covers part of the inside, so we get to see that gorgeous It’s My Party designer paper.

DSC_1902w

The designer paper covers the entire inside panel, so you are probably thinking it is cut at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, right?  Yes, it would appear so, but ugh…who wants to cut 4 1/4″ widths from 12″ paper?  Terri’s solution…make the card 1/4″ smaller, and you can cut more from each 12″ sheet.  Love that idea!  The size still fills our envelopes nicely, and who is going to notice that 1/4″ difference?

Dimensions for this card…

Crumb Cake 5 1/4″ x 6 1/2″, scored at 2 1/2″

Designer Paper 5 1/4″ x 4″

Mint Macaron 3″ x 4 1/4″

Whisper White 2 3/4″ square

DSC_1903w

Here’s another way to use 4″ widths without the matted look – simply cut 1/4″ off of the front panel, and use Washi Tape along the edge of the inside panel.  This is a super-simple card that shows off another pattern of the It’s My Party collection.

The designer paper measures 4″ x 5 1/2″, and it completely covers the front panel because I have trimmed off 1/4″ on the right side.

DSC_1905w

I have to admit that I have always been a little squeamish about cutting 4 1/4″ widths from designer paper – if you can relate, try these fixes!

And back to the subject of Stampin’ Up! teams…joining Stampin’ Up! is a great way to meet people who share your hobby.  You can join with no commitment to sell.  In fact, there is no commitment beyond the Starter Kit, but you do get a discount on your purchases after you join.  Sale-a-bration is a great time to join – through the end of March, our Starter Kit is $99 (including shipping) for $155 worth of the products of your choice.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  I would love to have you on my team – I have regular meetings and awards for my team, and you would also be a part of the larger teams of my uplines.  It is a fun community, and it is also fun to get a discount on our favorite products!  🙂  Click here to join.

Paper Pumpkin Stamps

paperpumpkin

Each month, I rip into my Paper Pumpkin kit to use the stamps before I actually make the kit.  The February 2016 stamps are particularly good, and I made this simple card with just two of them.  The strip of Tip Top Taupe Washi Tape is applied to the inside of the card – I cut away 1/4″ of the front edge to reveal it.  How quick would it be to make up a set of these with any of the sentiments in the kit? And with any Washi Tape and color scheme?

February__2016_Stamp_Set

The kit makes the nine cards (3 of each design) shown below.  Check out those darling envelopes!
