From the Garden

DSC_0717w1

I didn’t think I “needed” this bundle when I saw it, but you can see how that worked out!  This was one of my Card Buffet choices this week.  It uses “From the Garden” stamps and Handpicked Framelits – they are miniature, and I think that is what makes them so appealing.  I used them here with the dainty little tulips from “Painted Petals”.

The little picks in the “From the Garden” bundle will also be really cute on favors this spring.  The carrot shown below is an idea I got from Janet Holmes’ blog last year.  I updated it with a garden pick.

The sour cream container is made from a 4″ x 6″ piece of designer paper, rolled into a tube and then adhered in opposite directions at each end.

More Goodies from Club

DSC_0696

First, a sentiment that we can all relate to.  Jan brought these adorable S’more kits to club this month.  The tag says:

“I will not buy any

more paper until I use

what I have in my stash,”

I said…

AND THEN I

LAUGHED & LAUGHED!

ALWAYS ROOM

FOR S’MORE!

DSC_0694

Here’s a better look at the whole kit – the box has compartments for each item.  We got a kick out of these!

DSC_0704w

This was one of our club projects.  It is a fun fold that fits in a standard envelope, and it shows off one of our Easter sets, “For Peeps’ Sake”.

The flap tucks under the chick piece at the lower left.  If you make this card, I recommend adding that piece last, as you close up the card, to get it in the right place.  Create the whole built-up chick piece first – scallop circle, dimensionals, 1 3/8″ circle, and 1 1/4″ circle – then attach it to the card, taking care to catch the edge of the flap.

Do you notice the Irresistibly Yours designer paper?  On the Wisteria card, it is stamped first with “Positively Chevron” and then sponged.  On both cards, the stamping and sponging were done with Pool Party.  The stamp on the Pool Party card is from “Snuggles and Smooches”.

Irresistibly Yours is one of the FREE products you can choose with a $50 order during Sale-a-bration.  It is white with embossed patterns, and you can use it as is or add color as I did.

Sorry, I seem to be giving the directions in reverse order today – that should keep you on your toes!  The card base is a half sheet of cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″.  The picture below shows the base, opened up.

DSC_0707w

Make a hole to thread the larger scallop circle through with your 2 1/2″ circle punch or a similar size in the circle framelits.  That hole is centered on the 8 1/2″ score line.

Cheerful Critters Magic Card

DSC_0678w

We had a lot of fun in club this weekend with this Magic Card made with the “Cheerful Critters” bear.  The black and white image magically colors itself as it is pulled from the card, and a greeting appears on the sign.

DSC_0681w

These quirky critters with their blank signs are perfect for this card type.  We also came up with some other great ideas – flowers that become colored, a vase that gets filled, balloons for a birthday.  You could also write your own message on the blank sign, or add a note or signature that magically appears.

The construction is shown in the video below.  Please contact me if you have any questions.  I hope you will try this – it is fun!

Spring Lists

DSC_0688w

On some of the coldest days of this winter, I have been looking ahead to spring.  We will certainly welcome it!  This is a repeat of a project I posted in December, except that this version features pastels and flowers instead of Christmas colors and a snowman.

When you open the cover of this little folder, you will find a list pad.

DSC_0689w

The dimensions of the folder will depend on your memo pad.  I used half of a junior memo pad.  The designer paper is one of the Sale-a-bration freebies, Best Year Ever.

Have a great weekend!

Simple Can Be Spectacular

We were talking about our tendencies to hoard designer paper in class this week, but the word “hoard” has negative connotations, so instead let’s say “treasure”.  The conversation made me feel sheepish about the specialty sheets in the Balloon Bash series.  Why haven’t I used those beautiful embossed gold foil sheets?  They shouldn’t be stashed away…they should be on a project!

DSC_0675w

This is a 15 minute (or less!) card, but thanks to the specialty papers, it looks fancy.  That’s the trade-off.  Yes, you are parting with that yummy paper, but the result is a showy card that is easy to make.

DSC_0676w

Here’s a better look at the paper – some of the balloons on the designer paper are shiny gold like the large gold foil balloon on the left.  You can see that there isn’t much to this card, but the materials make it impressive.

Thanks for looking!  Have a great day!

Another SAB Freebie

DSC_0672w

“You Brighten My Day” is one of the sets that you can choose for FREE with a $50 product order during Sale-a-bration.  The images are shown below.  Several of the stamps in this set coordinate with our punches, like my cute little house on this card which is punched with the What’s Up punch (on sale this week for $12.71).  I chose some greetings from “Honeycomb Hello” to go with my house.  This is a sweet way to let someone know you are thinking of them.

Chevrons for CAS on Sunday #52

DSC_0667w

I am using chevrons and stars on these birthday cards for a fun look.  The stars are one of the glossy images included with Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Paper.  I stamped “Positively Chevron” with Daffodil Delight over the specialty paper.  I also added a lighter shade of Daffodil Delight with a sponge.

DSC_0670w

This is the card I am entering in the CAS on Sunday challenge.  The big bold candles and greeting from “Big News” are simple, and overall, I think this card has a less fussy look about it.  You can see more entries in this challenge here.

DSC_0668w

I also came up with this card while playing with these elements.  It requires just a little more work with the framelit stars and circles, and the fussy-cut candles.

The Irresistibly Yours paper collection also includes a glossy flower pattern.  You can see it below, stamped and sponged with “Hardwood” in Crumb Cake.  There are six different glossy images in this paper pack, so the possibilities of combined patterns and background stamps is endless.  You can choose to receive this paper for FREE with a $50 order during Sale-a-bration.

Guest Stampers

I have a treat for you today – a group of cards from friends to show off.  First, a few from a friend who is also a teammate, Mary Jane Ebie.  I am so lucky to have regular contributions on my blog from Mary Jane!

DSC_0591w

These are both made with “Painted Petals”.  Don’t you love the addition of the Washi tape to the card on the left?  Together with the message that is stamped in black, these two components stand out – even on a flat card.  And on the other card, the gingham plaid made from the stripes in “Painted Petals” makes such a great background.

DSC_0592w

We are all ready for some spring flowers!  These are abloom with patterned paper from the All Abloom paper stack.  So sweet and pretty!

DSC_0594w

This is a really clever use of Baby’s First Framelits.  When you cut off the onesie, you have a great tshirt!  These are tie-dyed with our local school district’s colors, and my girls actually have shirts that look like this in their closets.  The mat is embossed with the Lucky Stars folder – hard to make out in the picture, but it adds the perfect touch.

DSC_0664w

This sweet card is from my good friend Nancy Leitner.  I love the bright colors and print, and the coordinating baker’s twine.  Doesn’t it just make you smile?  It is very cheerful, much like Nancy!!  There are several sentiments, like this one, from our fall promo set “Good Greetings” that will be great to have year-round.

I also have a few cards that I received from my upline, Mindy Gray.

DSC_0665w

I love the color inspiration here!  On the left, images from “Choose Happiness” out of the Annual Catalog.  On the right, a few items from the Occasions Catalog – “Petal Potpourri” flowers and that adorable pick from “From the Garden”.

DSC_0666w

And last but not least, how cute is this card from “Hey, Valentine”?  I love the colorful splashes on the banner from the Birthday Bash paper – just the right touch for this card.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
