Triple Tier Wedding Cake and Presents

I have a fun picture to share from Leadership – this was taken on Thursday night at the Manager’s Reception.  We were treated to a private showing of Fantasmic! and then had time to enjoy dessert and some rides at Disney Studios.  It’s always so fun to hang out with demo friends!

Today is the last day of sessions and training – yes, we are learning things and getting new ideas, not just going to theme parks.

I brought a card to Leadership to post on the sample board which spotlights our new Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper.  This paper is so pretty!

DSC_0606w

It fits into a regular envelope, which I have lined, and it opens up to look like a Wedding Cake.

DSC_0604w

Do you see the Wondrous Wreath bundle in the swags?  I heat embossed them in white on Blushing Bride cardstock.  I made several wreaths and cut pieces from them to add to my “cake”.  I trimmed out a few leaves here and there to get the right look.

I also have a simpler version of this card that looks like a stack of presents when opened up.  Here’s how it looks right out of the envelope.

Below you can see how it looks opened up.

These are Triple Tier Slider cards, and they show off coordinating designer papers just beautifully.  This paper is from the Best Year Ever collection which you can have FREE with a $50 product order.  I made a video showing the construction of the presents.  I hope you will try it!

As promised in the video, here are my notes with dimensions.

A Few of My Favorite Things from Leadership

IMG_1494w

Cute bags and swaps are a tradition at Stampin’ Up! events, and these are some of the favorite things I have come to appreciate at Leadership.  Here is this year’s tote along with one of my swaps, a CASE of a card by Mindy Gray that uses “Big Day”.

IMG_1495w

Another favorite thing…roommate gifts!  I received this beautiful set of cards from Theresa.

Aren’t they so sweet?  I just love them!!

Leadership 2015 Day 1

I am a little off schedule because this is a special week for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.  Many of us are at the Leadership Conference in Orlando, soaking up new ideas to bring home.  Well ok, we have actually only picked up our bags and caught up with friends so far, but the sharing starts today.

I am so lucky to be attending with Amy Kunkle and Theresa Custer from my team.  And we are so lucky to be attending with uplines, sidelines and friends that we have met along the way.  It is only the third year for Amy and I, but we both agreed that it seems like we have known these girls much longer than that.  The friendships made at these events are a huge perk to this business!

Here’s a peek at the “pillow gifts” I made for Amy and Theresa – safe to show now because they received them last night.  The stamp cases make a fabulous and pretty container, and they travel well!  These are the full size wood-mount stamp cases with a piece of Painted Blooms designer series paper under the clear plastic.  The paper measures 11 1/4″ x 7″.

DSC_0597w

I added notepads, pens, and some other “survival” items.

DSC_0598w

The notepads are cut to 4 1/2″ x 7 1/4″ and wrapped with a 2″ strip of designer paper.  The paper for the pen barrel measures 3/4″ x 3 1/4″.  These are RSVP pens – you can unscrew the end of the barrel to load this paper.  I like to wrap the paper around a skewer first so that it slides in easily.

Check my facebook page for more pictures and details as the conference gets underway.  Demonstrators, remember that you can watch live streaming of certain sessions on the demo site.

Have a great day!

Hot Diggity Dog

DSC_0589w

Here’s a card for the dog lovers on your list.  These little guys (gals?) from “Hot Diggity Dog” are too cute!  I used my 1″ square punch to punch out their bodies, and my retired 1 1/4″ square punch for the Bermuda Bay mats.  I fussy-cut the heads and mounted them on dimensionals.   The designer paper is a 2″ strip from Confetti Celebration.

I cut the greeting for this card with my Project Life framelits.  Those have come in handy on many occasions for greetings.  The framelit shape that I used is longer than I wanted, so I made two passes with it on my Big Shot.  I cut a long strip around my stamped greeting first, and then moved the framelit over to shorten the other end.

I also want to point out that I added a video to my YouTube channel this weekend.  I had several requests for more detail on the file folder cards.  My video shows the file folder gift card holder that we made at Open House, and the design is similar to that of the Featured Project that I am currently sending to customers who make a $35 product purchase in my online store.

Here’s the product list for today’s “Hot Diggity Dog” card…

Banner Blessings for PP228

DSC_0587w

The Paper Players ask for a “Sentiment Only” card in their challenge this week, and I love this idea because there are many times when you want the sentiment to be the focal point.  I chose a very special sentiment from “Banner Blessings”, and I paired it with images from the pretty new set “Painted Blooms”.  Already these are a few of my favorite things, but I also love to put green and navy together – this is Wild Wasabi with Night of Navy, and the flowers are Rose Red.

You can see more entries in this challenge at The Paper Players.

Have a great weekend!

Goofy Snowman

DSC_0586w

I love this goofy-faced snowman that I received from my upline Mindy Gray (on left).  I made him a friend, and this became one of my Card Buffet choices this month.  We had a snowy day here yesterday, so it was very appropriate.  I think people are still embracing the idea of snowmen in January, but that affection will not last long.  Once we get tired of the weather…no more happy snowmen!

This guy is so easy to make – the scarf is about 1/4″ wide with a bow cut from the wreath framelits.  I used Birthday Bash designer paper.  The eyes are made with 1″, 3/4″, and 3/8″ circle punches.  The nose is a wedge of a 2 1/2″ circle.  I used Candy Dots for the buttons.

Guest Stampers

I have a great collection of cards to show off today.  Several of my club members brought cards they have made recently to share with club on Sunday and class yesterday, and they gave me permission to share them on my blog.

From Sunday night, Carol brought these cards that she has been working on for Valentine’s Day…

DSC_0571w

These cards use the “Stacked with Love” designer paper stack.

DSC_0574w

These use an assortment of current and retired products – each so creative!  Wish I had a better picture of the one with the Crumb Cake mat.  You don’t think of brown when you think of Valentine’s Day, but that combination of Crumb Cake and Basic Black is really striking for a masculine card.

Martha brought these to share in class yesterday…

DSC_0575w

The step card is a great way to show off a couple patterns of designer paper, and its also great way to use several images from a stamp set.  These cards use the Sale-a-bration set “Big Day” and the Sale-a-bration designer paper “Best Year Ever”.

For more details on creating a step card, click here.

DSC_0578w

This is another creative color choice – my picture does not show it well, but the yellow is So Saffron, and the background is Coastal Cabana.  This is a really great combination, so nice because it is different from the nautical colors that you typically see with “Open Sea”.  My picture doesn’t do it justice.

I also have a group that Mary Jane brought to class yesterday…

DSC_0580w

The bright colors are so fun!  These cards also use “Big Day”.

DSC_0581w

Love this simple design with brights, too – the designer paper is from “Painted Blooms”.  The stamp set is retired – “Spring Sampler”.

DSC_0583w

These are so pretty with our new “Something Lacy” background stamp and “For the New Two” wedding set.  The colors are Smoky Slate, Soft Suede, and Sahara Sand – each so striking.

DSC_0584w

Here’s a little closer view of the Smoky Slate – I think this color grabbed me because I haven’t used it yet with this set.

DSC_0585w

Here is a similar card made as a birthday card – a good reminder that you don’t have to use the stamps for the occasion suggested by our catalog.

I really love the fresh ideas for design and color in these cards.  I hope you enjoyed them – a big thank you to Carol, Martha and Mary Jane for sharing!

Bokeh Background for SUO114

DSC_0564w

One of my club projects this month aligned perfectly with the current challenge at Stampin’ Up! Only.  The theme is dots, and I used Whisper White Craft Ink dots to create a bokeh effect.  Bokeh is defined as the way a camera lens renders out-of-focus points of light.

My design was inspired by Tanja Kolar’s card that I saw on our demo website.  Her card was done in blues and greens – also a very pretty combination.  Try this with your favorite colors.  I played with several colors before I decided on my background colors, Crisp Cantaloupe and Wisteria Wonder.   I used sponges to add these colors to a Whisper White mat for the background piece.

I used a dauber and a mask to add the white circles over the background color.  The mask is a piece of Window Sheet cut with the three smallest circle framelits.

The greeting is from the “Crazy about You” and “Hello You” thinlits bundle on page 31 of the Occasions Catalog.  You can make so many greeting combinations with this bundle – love it!

Thanks for checking out my card – you can see more entries in this challenge at SU-Only Challenges.
