Fry Box Designs for Halloween

Fry Box Designs for Halloween

I was in Columbus yesterday for a Team Meeting, and my upline, Mindy Gray, had great projects for us as usual!!  The bat in the middle is just one of them.  It is made with the Fry Box Bigz die for the Big Shot.  I was inspired to make a couple of friends for him when I got home, and I came up with the simple jack-o-lantern and ghost.

These are pretty straightforward punch art projects.  I did stamp the stripes on the jack-o-lantern with a stamp from “Work of Art”, and the grin is a section of a 2″ circle, with a notch made by the Banner punch.

The pieces for the bat are a little less obvious – his ears are made from the Elegant Butterfly punch, and the wings are a large circle, scalloped with the Large Scallop edgelit.  They are attached to the back of the fry box.  The bat’s fangs are made from the Banner punch, and of course, that great bow is from the Gift Bow Bigz die.

The Newborn King

DSC_1308w

Don’t you love it when a card is simple and you don’t need a lot of stuff to get a lot of “wow”?  The only special tool I used to make this card is one framelit from the Apothecary Accents framelits.  The gold embossing provides all the wow factor, and this is a card that you could mail without any worries.  I made this card with my friends in Columbus yesterday 🙂 ~ always a treat to see them!!

The stamp set is “The Newborn King”, and I embossed the large nativity in gold on a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.  I matted that image on a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock measuring 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.  I used dimensionals to attach the layers to the card base, and I used dimensionals to pop up the greeting.

There are four stamps in this set – you only see three on my card front, but there is also a great sentiment.

Tbt Classics

I thought it would be fun to throw back to some of my early cards today.  The subject came up in one of my classes this week, and we were discussing how much the products and tools have changed.  Our stamps and tools have come a long way!  But just for fun, I pulled out some of my early cards, and FYI these are the “better” ones…

DSC_1303w

The stamp set is “Like it a Latte” from the 2006-2007 Winter Mini catalog.  It was a really fun set with steam, coffee beans, the stir sticks and hearts that you see here, and some fun greetings.  In today’s world, this would be a two-step photopolymer set with some framelits!!

From about that same time period, this is “Basket Full of Fun”, and it was SO hard to get…a Level 3 Hostess set in 2007 if I remember correctly!  I wasn’t a Demonstrator then – at the time, I probably got these sets from my upline, Mindy Gray 🙂

I don’t know what set this is, but I like the layout and the fact that our good friend, the Word Window, was already in play here!

Hope you enjoyed this look back!  Have a great Thursday!

PocketBac Favors

DSC_1279w

This is a quick little favor that can be decorated for any occasion.  It is made from a strip of cardstock that measures 1 3/4″ x 11″, scored at 1/2″, 1 1/2″, 3 3/4″, 4 3/4″, 8″ and 9″.  I punched a 1″ square to fit the neck of the bottle.  Here is a side view that shows how it is assembled.

DSC_1281w

I used half of a velcro dot for the closure, and I decorated the flap with Old Olive cardstock (1 7/8″ x 1 5/8″) and designer paper (1 3/4″ x 1 1/2″).  There are so many scents and colors available in these PocketBac hand sanitizers – even holiday scents.  You can coordinate colors and themes, and these are quick!!

Here is another card from this week’s Card Buffet.  It uses the greeting from “Bravo” and the baby onesie, hanger, and booties from “Something for Baby” which has coordinating framelits.  The colors are Marina Mist and Blushing Bride.  Let me know if you would like to join us for Card Buffet – there are still spaces available today and Thursday at noon, and Wednesday at 6:30pm.

Have a great day!

For All Things

DSC_1295w

Add any greeting to this card, and it is perfect for the season ahead!  This greeting comes with “For All Things”, and it seems very appropriate as we flip the calendar page.  The set includes brushstrokes, in addition to these fall images, that look like they have been created with watercolors.  The strip of designer paper is from the Color Me Autumn collection.  I CASEd this card from Jill Hilliard, and it will be part of this week’s Card Buffet.  There are still spots available on Tuesday or Thursday at noon, or Wednesday at 6:30pm.  Please contact me if you would like to join us.

Have a great day!

Blog Candy Winner and Good Greetings

I have a Blog Candy winner, chosen with the random number generator at random.org.

BlogCandy1

The winner is Sharyn!  I will contact you to get you your prize!  Thank you all for playing and especially for the encouraging comments!  Just a note, there were 14 comments, but the last three were entered after the deadline of noon EST on Friday, so they were not entered in the drawing.

My daughter has not even received the card in the Blog Candy post yet!!  I sent it over a week ago, and I guess they are still sorting out the mail situation in her new home!  You can see that “Miss You Already” card here.

I have one more announcement today…Stampin’ Up! is offering a really great greeting set for Workshops of $300 or more.  It is called “Good Greetings”, but it is better than good!  Check out the flyer below.  This is an EXTRA benefit, you also get Hostess Benefits according to the charts at the back of each catalog.

Download (PDF, 440KB)

There are 19 greetings, with an emphasis on fall and winter holidays, but there are several that can be used year-round.  I think the font is really sweet!

So how can you get this?  Get a few friends together for a workshop – it is a fun girls’ night!  I can bring projects to you, or you are welcome to have your party in my craft room – just bring your friends and some snacks.

Can’t schedule a good time for everyone?  Host a “catalog party”, and I will send home a “take-n-make” with each order.

Any order, individual or group, online or through me, with $300 in product is eligible to receive this set. Please contact me if you would like to schedule!

Have a great weekend!

Fall Fest Trio

Stampin' Up! Fall Fest 1

Thank you to everyone who came to my Open House yesterday – I hope you are as excited as I am about the great products in this year’s Holiday Catalog!  Today I am showing one of the make-n-takes from Open House.  It is a treat envelope made with the envelope punch board.

We did use Motley Monsters designer paper for some of these, like the one on the right in the picture above.  I also found some great Halloween colors in our other collections, so you can use your leftover papers from the designer paper sale this summer.  The one in the middle is from Sweet Taffy, and my favorite is the one shown below that uses Flowerpot.

Stampin' Up! Fall Fest 2 DSC_1292w

The finished envelope measures 2″ x 3 1/2″.  It is the smallest size on the envelope punch board (the gift card size).  We decorated these with a 2 1/2″ circle and characters from the Fall Fest stamps cut with Fun Fall Framelits.

Today is the last day to enter my Blog Candy contest.  Details are on Monday’s post, and you must leave your comment on Monday’s post to enter.  The contest closes at noon EST.  Click here for that post.

Have a great weekend!

Gift Box Punch Board

DSC_1287

Products from the Holiday Catalog are now available!  Woohoo!

I made these two boxes to show the range of sizes you can make with the Gift Box Punch Board in our Holiday Catalog.  The smaller one is a cube with sides measuring just under 2″, and the larger is a 4″ cube.

The Cherry Cobbler box is made from a printed cardstock-weight kraft sheet from the Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper collection.  There are twelve 12″x12″ sheets with color on one side and white printed patterns on the other.  Boxes made with these sheets are very sturdy.  Our designer papers are heavy enough for boxes, too.  The small box is made from a retired designer paper.

These boxes are tied with Natural & Olive Two-Tone Trim, a chunky version of our regular Baker’s Twine.  It is five times thicker, and it is great for packages!  If you want to sample it, it is part of my Holiday Catalog Ribbon Share.  Click here for details.

And finally, there’s a great new punch in the Holiday Catalog – the Note Tag Punch.  It coordinates with the “Merry Everything” stamp set, and two of the stamps are used here.  The lower one has a To/From space.

If you have a big wish list, you can order up to $150 for just $99 + tax (FREE Shipping) when you join as a demo.  Today is the last day of the special offer – the regular deal offers $125 in product.  There is no obligation to sell, and you will have a discount on everything you buy as long as you are current (at least through January).  Please contact me for more information, or click “Join SU!” on the menu bar above.

Also, remember the Big Shot Bundles Promo ends August 31.  Click here for the post with those details.

I am running a Blog Candy contest this week.  Details are on Monday’s post, and you must leave your comment on Monday’s post to enter.  Click here for that post.

Fun Fall Framelits

Fun Fall Framelits

The Holiday Catalog is also all about fall.  I love the little leaves from the Fall Fest bundle.  There are coordinating stamps for these leaves, but I simply used the framelits to make leaves, and I added them to a scrap of burlap ribbon.  I cut the threads that bind the edge of the burlap ribbon and pulled out a few fibers to get the fringed edges.  The chevron is from “Work of Art” and the greeting is from “Something to Say”.
