Miss You Already and Blog Candy

Holiday Home Miss You

I made this card last week and sent it to my daughter’s college address before we even left home to move her in.  There was no question that it would be true.  I am so proud of her and happy for her, but as expected, we miss her already!

I have to remind myself that her departure is no different from potty training, learning to ride a bike or learning to drive…just another step toward independence.  Sigh.  I am trying not to be sad, but I tear up when I think about it for too long!

So let’s talk about the card instead.  I used two products from the upcoming Holiday Catalog – the Confetti Stars Punch (used here as a border punch) and the Holiday Home Bundle.  Both are really fun and versatile!  All of the great holiday products that I have been showing will be available starting this Thursday.  If you are local, please join me at my Holiday Catalog Open House on Thursday.  Contact me to RSVP.

The Daffodil Delight mat is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the Night of Navy mat is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.  The grass is Always Artichoke, and the moon is made with the 1 3/4″ and 2″ circle punches.  I colored the house with Blendabilities.  I love the little houses in this set!

I colored the “Just Sayin’ ” stamp with a Stampin’ Write marker, omitting the tail of the word bubble.  (Don’t be tempted to color your stamps with the Blendabilities – they dry too quickly and will stain the stamp.)  I used the marker with a straight-edge to complete the word bubble outline, and I cut the greeting with the coordinating framelit.  I snipped off the tail of the word bubble before adding it to the card.

Trees for FMS150 and Blog Candy Coming!

DSC_1269w

“Festival of Trees” was at the top of my wish list when I saw the new Holiday Catalog.  As much as I love intricate framelit shapes, there is something so inviting about a clean shape that you can simply punch out!  I love this classic shape, love the assortment of tree stamps that are available in the set, and love the punch!!

This card was inspired by this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  You can see more entries in this challenge by clicking here.

I have an emotional weekend ahead – we are dropping our oldest baby off for her first year at Ohio State.  I know this is not the socially acceptable day for a throwback picture (LOL), but in light of our milestone, I have “Then and Now” pictures to share.

IFDSC_0550w

Where does time go?  Reminds me of this quote about parenting…”The days are long, but the years are short.”  The years did fly by!

Just a warning…there may be some more blubbering about this on Monday, and Monday’s post is already made, photographed and in the mail to Jen.  Stop back Monday to check it out, and I will also announce my first ever Blog Candy Giveaway!!

By the way, Jen sent a funny comment to my website a few weeks ago.  I didn’t publish it, but I think today’s post addresses the issue.  Here is the comment she submitted…

“Hello I just am appreciating your website here–your crafts look great! However I am offended that Chip has his own bio and photograph but I am not even mentioned by name…”

Have a great weekend!

A Very Easy Sumthin’ Sumthin’

Stampin' Up! Fry Box

Need a cute favor and need it quick?  The Big Shot delivers!  With one piece of designer paper, one pass through the Big Shot, and two pieces of sticky tape, you have it!  Add a little greeting and a treat, and you are done.

Stampin' Up! Fry Box 2

Here’s a better view of the fry box, and you know I love it when we can see both sides of our beautiful designer paper!  This paper is from the Sweet Taffy collection.  The shape is cut with the Fry Box Box Bigz L die (Annual Catalog p 233, Item 132966, $32.95).

The greeting is from “Sumthin’ Sumthin’ “, cut with a framelit from Word Bubbles.  You can get a bundle that includes this stamp set and the Word Bubble framelits for FREE with the purchase of a Big Shot this month.  Check out the flyer below for more details on this promotion.  There are other great bundles to choose from, too, and they are valued up to $60!

Wondrous Wreath and New Demo Special

Wondrous Wreath Cards

Here’s a sneak peek at “Wondrous Wreath”, a two-step photopolymer stamp set with coordinating framelits that will be available August 28.  We call it a two-step set, but the wreath itself has three components – the complete set of leaves, stamped first in Pear Pizzazz; the accent leaves, stamped next in Garden Green; and finally, the Real Red holly berries.  They are separate stamps but they are clear, so they are easy to line up.  There are accessories and greetings in the stamp set, too.

Wondrous Wreath Noel

You can see that the framelits for the wreath are very detailed to match the outline of the leaves.  There are two greetings in the framelit set, too – Noel and Joy.

Wondrous Wreath Garland

I cut two wreaths into pieces to make this garland.  I followed the leaves closely when cutting, and I cut some leaves out of the sections on the sides to thin them.

I CASEd the window idea from samples I have seen on Pinterest, and I am not sure who to credit.  My window started as a 3 1/4″ square.  On the back, I marked a 1/4″ border around the perimeter, and I marked lines for the cross piece allowing space to punch 1 1/4″ squares for the openings.  I used my retired 1 1/4″ square punch to make the openings, following the lines on the back.

DSC_1258w

This wreath will be beautiful for Christmas, but versatile enough for year-round use. I tried a quick autumn version here with Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, and Cajun Craze.  The greeting is from “Good Greetings”, a Hostess set that will be available this fall.  The greeting is cut with one of the Project Life framelits, and the leaves are another sneak peek.

Autumn Wondrous Wreath

The stamp set and framelits will be available in a bundle for $43.25, starting August 28.  If you can’t wait, you can sign up as a Demonstrator and add any Holiday Catalog products to your Starter Kit.  A promotional offer is available starting tomorrow for new Demonstrators.

Order a Starter Kit between August 21 and August 28, and you can choose up to $150 in product for $99+tax.  Shipping is FREE on Starter Kits.  Contact me if interested, or click Join SU! on the menu bar to order a Starter Kit.

Baby Dresser Stair Step Card

DSC_1251w

This was one of our Stamp Club projects this weekend – a stair step card using the stamp set “Something for Baby”, Baby’s First Framelits and Lullaby designer series paper.  It also fits right in with the current Fab Friday Baby Theme challenge in honor of Baby Ian.  Click here to see more entries in this challenge.

Here is a better look at the folds:

DSC_1252w

This is a card type that looks much harder to make than it is.  Once you get used to how the card base is cut and scored, you can make these easily.  I copied my notes below to show how to cut and score a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock to make this dresser base.

Scan_Pic0003

The key to creating the base is cutting the line that is marked with the asterisk.  Cut that line first and then score to it from each side.  You can change the width of the peak – it doesn’t have to be 2″.  I chose 2″ because it worked well with my Ticket Duo Builder Punch drawers.

Once you have the base, you can decorate as you wish.  I used the Decorative Label Punch to create the trim on the bottom on the dresser, and 1/4″ circles covered with Crystal Effects for the drawer pulls.

There are many variations of this card.  I did a stair step card last week that was scored with additional lines for an additional peak and valley.  It is shown below, along with a cutting diagram for its base.  Click here to see the original post.

More Holiday Goodies

At our team get-together last night, Mary Jane Ebie brought some of her designs, and she gave me permission to photograph and share them with you.  She has been my Guest Stamper before, so you may be familiar with her beautiful work!  As demonstrators, we are very excited about the Holiday Catalog products right now because…

1.  The Holiday Catalog is really spectacular!

2.  We were able to preorder items this month.

Holiday Catalog products will be available starting August 28.  Here is another sneak peek, compliments of Mary Jane…

DSC_1240w

“Festival of Trees” was at the top of my Wish List.  There are 13 two-step photopolymer stamps that you can use to create some beautiful stamped trees.  Or, as Mary Jane did here, you can simply use the coordinating punch to create beautiful trees from designer paper.  This paper is from the “Trim the Tree”, a 4 1/2″x 6 1/2″ stack.  Those little stacks are just right for card fronts and little pieces!  <3!!

DSC_1241w

Here again, we have a punched tree, but this time it is stamped with the watercolor chevron from “Work of Art”.  Isn’t this an awesome use of that stamp?  It suits the trendy little tree perfectly!  The greeting is from the Wonderful Wreath framelits.  The wreath bundle was also high on my list because of the two-step photopolymer stamp set.  The wreath on the card below uses more of the framelits, along with the stamps.

DSC_1242w

Hope this is getting you in the spirit!  I am a “Christmas in July” kind of girl, so this is not too early for me.  I don’t necessarily get things done in July, but I like to think about Christmas in July.  Thanks again to Mary Jane!

Have a great weekend!

DSC_1239w

I know it’s early, but I can’t resist playing with my Holiday Catalog products!  This is a sneak peek at “Holiday Home” on a Stair Step Card.  Yes, there are framelits for those three cute houses!  Here’s a better view of the folds.

DSC_1236w
