Weekly Deals, a New Set and a Chicken

I also have a fun punch art card today…a chicken! It was inspired by a larger punch art chicken that I saw on the website of a German demonstrator, Sabine Helmers. I made it smaller with a 1 3/4″ Circle punch for the body, layered over a Tangerine Tango Owl punch body. The designer paper is punched with the XL Oval, rounded at the bottom with the 1 3/4″ Circle. The tail and wings are from Boho Blossoms, and the eyes and beak are from the Owl Builder punch. The Flowerpot designer paper takes on a very “country” look in this card, doesn’t it?

Star Treat Cup Tag

I got my Holiday Catalog preorder on Friday, so I was inspired to come up with a Christmas project this weekend. The idea for a sliding door on a treat cup is not new, but the star framelits were new this year, and this project also gives you a sneak peek at the Nordic Noel designer series paper that will be available August 28. The directions for this tag are in the video.

I also came up with this gift card holder using Nordic Noel dsp. Since it coordinates so well, I will show it today, too. Can you make out what is in the shaker? Little stars! They are punched from the Confetti Stars Punch that will also be available August 28. Too fun!!

I used a bit of cello from a clear envelope as my window here, and it is pressed flat against the confetti. The confetti doesn’t shake around too much, but I really just wanted the look of a shaker here. I added a pocket to the back for a gift card.

Just be careful to tape the whole perimeter of the star when you are assembling the front so that the confetti can’t escape. Here’s a view of mine, before it was assembled. You can’t see it too well in the picture, but the cello is already in place.

Flower Patch Simplicity

This is not a new design – it is a CASE of a CASE, but it is one that I have been making often in different colors. I am holding on to summer with these bright fun colors, but these stamps will also be beautiful with fall tones.

I made this card at a Workshop yesterday with my stamping friends in Columbus. How I miss them! When I lived in Columbus (and before I was a demonstrator), we got together regularly to make cards. These are the girls that got me into stamping.

I love this card because there is a lot of stamping! Even though this card is very simple, the little touches and cool stamps make it very appealing. Plus it is easy to get a great result because the stamps are clear and easy to line up.

The card base is Coastal Cabana. I stamped the largest flower in Pink Pirouette. The two pink elements stamped on the center are done in Strawberry Slush. To make the larger of the two a little lighter, I stamped off once on my grid paper, and then stamped the flower without reinking. The smallest of the centers is stamped full-strength, with no “stamping off”.

The larger part of the Daffodil Delight flower is also stamped off once. The center is darker because it is not stamped off. You can get more shades from your colors using this method. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz.

Quick Thank You Notes

Here is a simpler version of the “Work of Art” card I posted on Tuesday. Only one layer, but the stamp set lets you get creative with your design. The note cards are just right for this, and you can make a bunch of them quickly.

The note cards measure 5″ x 3 1/2″ and are slightly heavier than the packaged Whisper White cardstock. They come in a pack of 20 with envelopes for $5.95 (Item 131527). They also come in Crumb Cake (Item 133766).

Fab Friday 47 with Pictogram Punches

This card was inspired by the sketch at Fab Friday. I had so many materials on my work surface as this card came together! I thought I had a clear-cut idea when I saw the sketch, but it still took some experimenting.

I love the warmth of Baked Brown Sugar…with a name like that, it has to be warm! I added two of this year’s great new In Colors – Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey. If you like these colors together, you will love the Moonlight designer paper stack (AC p 185, Item 133701 $6.95). I took the three different Hello Honey papers from that stack. The Baked Brown Sugar and Blackberry Bliss banners are cut from their respective color families’ stacks.

The stamp set is “Pictogram Punches”, one of my new favorites. I will add a “Class to Go” that uses this set later today. I have been using it a lot lately, so it was an easy choice for monthly favorite.

I also have a card to share today, made with the super-versatile “Work of Art” set. What a great set to play with! It is pretty in so many different colors and it works well with any accents. I used a gold foil butterfly and a few sequins here, and I stamped the Wild Wasabi brushstroke three times without re-inking.

Cupcake Party for FMS147

When I saw the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches this week, I knew I wanted to create a basketweave with the strips. After a bit of experimenting, I found that the narrow 1/8″ taffeta looked just right with the skinny stripes of Sweet Sorbet designer series paper. “Cupcake Party” was a natural fit with the bright, fun colors, and the result is this lighthearted birthday card.

So Very Grateful Tbt

Sadly, this stamp set is a throwback. It is “So Very Grateful” from this year’s Occasions catalog, and it will be a keeper for me. If you don’t have this set, you can still use this layout to highlight the stamp of your choice. Everything is soft and pretty – the image, the color (Lost Lagoon), the doily and the pearls.

Card Buffet Faves

Sometimes I can predict which Card Buffet cards are going to be popular. For example, I expected this Flowerpot DSP-inspired card to go over well, and it didn’t disappoint!

Then, there was this unexpected gem…

I didn’t count how many we made of each, but these two cards were definitely at the top of the Card Buffet Leaderboard.

The Minion is an exact CASE of a Convention swap by Rosemarrie Gonzalez. Let me give you some dimensions here, in case you have to have it too!

Daffodil Delight 4″ x 5 1/4″

Basic Black 4″ x 1″

Island Indigo 2 3/4″ x 1 1/2″, 1 3/8″ circle (cut for pocket) and Word Window straps

Eyes – 1 3/4″ Smoky Slate, 1 3/8″ Whisper White, 1″ Chocolate Chip, 3/4″ Basic Black

Mouth – crescent from 1 3/8″ circle punch

And let’s go back to my “Pictogram Punches” card for more details…I love the late summer (or is it early fall?) look of these colors.

The Garden Green mat is 4″ x 5 1/4″. The Night of Navy mat is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. The Scallop Tag Topper tag is 4″ x 2″. The flowered strip of DSP is 1″ x 4″ and the Crushed Curry DSP is 3/4″ x 2″, with a flag end created using the Hexagon punch. Keep that punch by your side for these flag ends – the strip goes in horizontally, so it is very easy to get it punched right.
