Peaceful Moments

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful holiday season! Christmas Day may have passed, but thankfully we still have the holiday week to savor. For my family, this week leading up to New Year’s is part of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and it extends to January 5th. No matter how you look at the upcoming week, I hope it proves a bit more relaxing than normal life!

On the Stampin’ Up! calendar, the best time of the year is just around the corner. Sale-a-bration starts January 3, and we will also have a fresh group of products available in the new Mini Catalog. Please contact me at stampyourworld@gmail.com if you would like to receive these catalogs in the mail.

I have another Sneak Peek at the beautiful Peaceful Poppies Suite that will be available on January 3.

You are going to love everything about this suite! The paper is vibrant and splashy, and the stamps and dies will surely be favorites.

Look for products from the Peaceful Poppies Suite starting on January 3 in the online store. In the meantime, our after-Christmas sale is already in progress, with close-out specials and many goodies on the Clearance rack.

Buckle Cards

I made a few buckle cards last night on Facebook Live. These are fun folds that show off several patterns of coordinating designer paper, and they are adaptable to any theme or occasion.

The first one was made with “Holiday Haul”, a Host Set from the Holiday Catalog.

The cardstock strip is the belt, and the punched slot (Classic Label Punch) is the buckle – it may be a stretch to call it a buckle, but you get the idea!

The Shaded Spruce card base measures 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. The Whisper White measures 4″ x 5 1/4″. The Cherry Cobbler measures 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 1″. The designer paper pieces measure 3″ x 5 1/4″, 1″ x 5 1/4″ and 1 1/4″ x 2 1/4″.

Here’s a Valentine’s version, made with products from the upcoming Mini Catalog – the Heartfelt bundle and From My Heart Specialty Designer Paper. The dimensions are the same as on the “Holiday Haul” card.

This card uses the same idea, but it is a simpler version. I think it still looks stunning, thanks to the gorgeous designer paper! This paper is also from the upcoming From My Heart collection.

The strip is a bit wider (2″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 1″) on this version – it just fits the slot, and it has room for a 1 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Whisper White, stamped with a greeting from “Everything Festive”.

The Real Red card base measures 4 1/4″ x 10″, scored at 5 1/2″. The designer paper pieces measure 4 1/4″ x 4″ and 1″ x 4″.

Ride with Me

“Ride with Me” from this year’s Annual Catalog is the set I turned to this weekend to make more Christmas cards. I love the pickup truck with these prints from the Wrapped In Plaid collection and the Perfectly Plaid punched tree! I am making a group of these cards with the Night of Navy plaids and Cherry Cobbler prints from the collection.

Flip Cards

Last night on Facebook Live, I showed how to make two different flip cards using the same technique. I started with this one, made with the Let It Snow Suite. The nested label flip section is cut to the right side of the score line on the front panel.

The Coastal Cabana base measures 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″. The designer paper pieces measure 2″ x 5 1/4″ and 4″ x 5 1/4″.

There are some fun details on the stamped image – Snowfall Accents Puff Paint and Snowflake Sequins.

The version I made with the So Many Stars Bundle uses the same method.

The difference here is that the flip section is cut to the left of the score line on the front panel. When open, the foil star is not visible – in the first case, the snowman image is visible when the card is open.

Since the die cut was made to the left of the star, an extra line of stitching shows to the left. I used an additional star on the inside panel to create the same effect on the right side of the star. And I love the detail of copper heat embossing on copper foil! This tone-on-tone embossing creates a great effect on any of the metallic foils!

Designer Paper Gift Card Holders

I made a bunch of gift card holders on Facebook Live last night with designer paper bases. Our designer paper is perfect for this because it is thick and two-sided.

These three use the same multi-fold layout.

The simplest opens like a tri-fold card. I used paper from the Christmastime Is Here collection with “Memories of Home” stamps. The designer paper base measures 5 1/2″ x 12″, scored at 3″, 7″, and 10″. The Whisper White on the front panel measures 3″ x 4 1/2″ and the Poppy Parade mat measures 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.

The 2″ section creates a pocket for a gift card (at right side of picture). I punched a decorative edge on the pocket with the Pretty Label Punch.

Neither of the side panels completely cover the middle section of the base – they overlap over it. The middle section is 4″ wide, and it carries the greeting. The Whisper White measures 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″, and the Mossy Meadow measures 3 7/8″ x 5 3/8″.

The “Happy Tails” versions are made exactly the same way, except that the layout is turned to the landscape position, and I have added 1 1/2″ belly bands. I used stitched rectangles (approximately 3 1/2″ and 4″ long) on the band.

With either of these orientations, if your paper has a directional pattern to it, plan your cutting and scoring accordingly.

I copied the “Memories of Home” card front from above to make this version, which opens like a regular card and has a slash pocket on the inside.

The designer paper measures 5 1/2″ x 12″, scored at 4″ and 8″. The inner panel is the same as above (Whisper White 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and Mossy Meadow 3 7/8″ x 5 3/8″). You can fold the pocket from either side.

The smaller versions are multi-fold, with a slash pocket. They are 4″ tall, so you can make three from each sheet of designer paper.

The designer paper measures 4″ x 10 1/2″, scored at 3″, 6″, and 9 1/8″. Again, I would caution you to plan directional patterns carefully!

The Very Vanilla measures 2 3/4″ x 3 5/8″, and the Mossy Meadow measures 2 7/8″ x 3 3/4″. The band measures 1″ x 7″, scored at 1 3/4″ and 5″.

You may recognize this layout from last year. Click here for that post. I love to remake these projects in our new products – they are all so adaptable to any paper and theme!
