Stitched Nested Labels Dies

I chose to highlight the Stitched Nested Labels Dies on last night’s Facebook Live.  Inspired by sneak peeks from the upcoming Holiday Catalog, I mixed in some “Christmas in July” projects.  I know the picture shows an odd collection of cards, but I hope that helps you see the possibilities for these cards in additional themes – like birthdays and other special events.

We started with this fun fold.  The Pool Party card base measures 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  The designer paper measures 3″ x 5 1/4″.  I cut two of the largest Stitched Nested dies – one from the Petal Pink designer paper and one from Pool Party cardstock.

I attached the die shapes together to make a sturdy piece to attach to the card front, and I attached it with dimensionals.  The greeting is made from our great new alphabet set, Hand-Lettered Prose.

This is basically the same card, rotated 90 degrees.  I added a 1″ strip of designer paper on the inside panel.  This designer paper is on the Clearance Rack right now for only $4.40 for twelve 12″ x 12″ sheets!!

On this card, I cut a 3/4″ strip off the cardstock label, and I also added a partial punch with my 1″ circle punch.  I used the label pieces to sandwich the card front.  I was careful to only apply adhesive around the perimeter of the cardstock piece in order to create a pocket for a gift card.

Moving on, I saw some plaids in the Holiday Catalog sneak peeks, so I reached back into my retired products for these papers from the Warmth and Cheer collection.

I have seen this Double Point card all over Pinterest, and it works great with the largest of our Stitched Nested Labels Dies.

The point pieces are made from 3″ x 4″ pieces of designer paper.  The 3″ side is scored at 2″, creating a 1″ flap that tucks under the Whisper White mat.  The corners fold in to make the point.  The Basic Black measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and the Whisper White measures 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Once again, I added a cardstock back of the same size to the main panel to make it sturdier.  The deer and greeting are from “Dashing Deer”, which is still available from our Annual Catalog along with the coordinating Detailed Deer dies.

This card is made the same way, but it is shorter.  The Pool Party base is 4 1/4″ square, and the Whisper White measures 4″ square.  If you don’t want to make a square envelope for this card, keep in mind that it will fit fine in our standard Medium Envelope – with no extra postage required for size 🙂

Finally, this version of my 4 1/4″ square card uses cardstock for the pointed flaps.  Each flap is made from a 3″ square of cardstock, folded on the diagonal.  The belly band is made from 2″ x 10″ strip of designer paper.

Stitched Lace

The Stitched Lace dies deliver a gorgeous lacy layer big enough to cover a card front.  And since you won’t want to cover up very much of it, completing the card is very easy.  I simply added a greeting and some trims.  I cut the edges off the Scalloped Linen Ribbon to create two little lengths of Seaside Spray eyelet, and I added a few pearls.  The greeting is from “A Wish for Everything”.

Praiseworthy Prose

The Praiseworthy Prose bundle offers 43 letter and punctuation dies with the look of brush-lettering.  They are big enough to make an impact on a card, but small enough to fit well!  The coordinating stamp set provides a few greetings – in the form of definitions.

I was attracted to this bundle for the alphabet dies, but it will also be fun to make words to pair with these stamps.

Today’s card is very simple, with just a few elements from the bundle and some bling!  The background paper is from the See a Silhouette collection.

Pocketful of Happiness

I made a simple and pretty card with “Pocketful of Happiness” and the striped print from the Bird Ballad designer paper collection.  I bought “Pocketful of Happiness” for its greetings – I like what they say, and I like their shape.  Though I didn’t use a punch on today’s card, I like the fact that these greetings are very punch-friendly.

From smallest to largest, these punched circles measure 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″, 1 3/4″ and 2″.  I expect to get a lot of use for all four of these greetings.  I like the font and as an added bonus, this stamp set has great images to color.

Above the Clouds Wiper Card

This is a really fun, interactive card.  It’s fun because of the surprise pop-up piece.  As you pull the card to its “open” position, a message appears.

This is how the card looks partially open.  The message is swinging up from inside of the front panel.

Here’s how it looks fully open.  Please check out the video below for complete instructions.  If you are receiving this post in an email, please click here for the video.

Dimensions are as follows:

Balmy Blue 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 7″

Balmy Blue 2 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 5 1/2″ and 7″

Whisper White (2) 2″ x 5 1/4″

Designer Paper (4) 1 1/4″ x 2″

Whisper White 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″

More Gifts in July!

July is a special month for me – it is the anniversary of BuckeyeInklings.com!!  While I have been a Demonstrator for nine years, my website at this address started in July 2013.  So, we are turning six this year!

To celebrate, I will share Host Benefits with you in a bigger way this month!  While I always love to share a small trim or embellishment when you spend $35 in my online store, I will offer bigger gifts at $60 and $75.

Use Host Code GGU74JMQ…

with a $35 order to receive a package of Stampin’ Dimensionals

OR

with a $60 order to receive the Host Set “Soft Spring”

OR

with a $75 order to receive the Host Set “Time for Tags”

“Soft Spring” is a two-step set that creates beautiful flowers.  I kept them really soft here with Petal Pink, Soft Seafoam and Sahara Sand.  The entire set is shown below.

“Time for Tags” and the coordinating Timeless Label Punch make great elements for cards or tags.  The entire set is shown below.

I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to get one of these Host Stamp Sets this month!  It is my way of sharing the Host Rewards from this order with you – please remember to enter Host Code GGU74JMQ in the box at the bottom left of your Shopping Bag screen to receive a gift!

Daisy Lane

I pulled out my favorite color palette to use with “Daisy Lane” – that would be Coastal Cabana and any other Brights!  In this case, I added Melon Mambo, Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove and Granny Apple Green.  I love these bright daisies!  They look like Gerbera Daisies to me, and they are perfect for summer.

The Daisy Lane bundle includes a punch, and this bundle is a great deal at $35.  I do love the fact that the punches are cheaper than the die sets, and they are so convenient for quick cutting.  Purchasing this bundle alone is enough to qualify you for my monthly gift (Noble Peacock Rhinestones in June).

That lovely background texture comes from a new embossing folder, Mosaic.  It is one of our 3D folders that creates deeper impressions than the standard folders.  There is also a new embossing plate, made specifically to go with these folders.

On the Big Shot, I use my platform (without the adapter for dies), the 3D folder, and the new 3D Embossing Plate.  You can use your Standard Cutting Plate in place of the 3D Embossing Plate, but you will have to add shims.  You should not use two of the Standard Cutting Plates with the 3D folders – they will make the sandwich too thick.

Stamparatus Techniques

Last night on Facebook Live, I used the Stamparatus to stamp the greetings for four cards in four different ways.  This greeting from “Perennial Birthday” was first.  Instead of stamping the greeting repeatedly by moving the plate between hinge locations (hinge step), I moved the Whisper White on the platform.  Using the grid on the platform as a guide, I could space each impression 3/4″ from the last.

This background was made in a similar way, except that I moved the Whisper White two blocks (1/2″) horizontally and three blocks (3/4″) vertically between impressions.  I stamped all of the impressions of one color at a time, starting with Lovely Lipstick, then adding Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather, and Blueberry Bushel.

I cut the stamped Whisper White panel down to 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″, and I tucked in a 3/4″ strip of Gingham Gala for this card front.  These greetings are from “Love What You Do”.

Though it’s hard to make out in the pictures, the embossing powder used on these first two cards is our new Shimmer White embossing powder.  This white powder includes iridescent glitter, and it is very sparkly and striking in person!

My next greeting is from “Rooted in Nature”.  It was easy to create a shadow on the Stamparatus.  I stamped the greeting in Seaside Spray on a scrap of Seaside Spray cardstock.  I dried the impression with my heat tool and rubbed the image with my embossing buddy.  Then, I moved the cardstock slightly down and to the right of its original position on the Stamparatus.  After cleaning the stamp, I stamped again with Versamark and heat embossed with white powder before cutting out the greeting with one of the Stitched Nested Label dies.

I used designer paper from the Woven Heirloom collecltion and a pearlized doily.  The rose strip measures 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.  The ribbon is our new Scalloped Linen Ribbon.

And finally, I stamped this greeting from “Stitched All Around” in two steps on the Stamparatus.  I stamped first in Mint Macaron. I dried the impression with my heat tool and rubbed the image with my embossing buddy.

After cleaning the stamp, I used a piece of tape to cover a portion of the stamp.  The tape was placed on a diagonal over the portion of the stamp that I wanted to protect from Versamark.  Then I applied Versamark and removed the tape, leaving the stamp partially inked.  With the paper in its original position, I stamped over the Mint Macaron image and heat embossed in gold.

The finished card uses Garden Lane designer paper and coordinating Mint Macaron and gold trims.

Coordinating tag stamps and punches are obviously great for tags, but I love them for quick and easy cards, like this one.  I used a 1 3/4″ strip of designer paper and some trims with this birthday tag.
