New In Color Projects

I made a few favors and swaps for a Stampin’ Up! meeting that I attended in Columbus this week.  The favors hold two Ghirardelli chocolates, and they are made from a 6″ square of designer paper.  I used the 2019-2021 In Color designer papers.  I didn’t mean to exclude Terracotta Tile, but I didn’t use it since it wasn’t one of the colors I used on the flowers in my coordinating cards (below).

The video below shows how to make these simple boxes.  They are a scaled-down version of the Note Card Clutch I made this winter.  If you are receiving this post in an email, please click here for the video.

And here are the coordinating cards…

They use the cute little flowers from “Grandma’s House”, and they are a remake of a card I showed before.

Thank you for checking out my projects!

Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper

I showcased our new laser-cut specialty paper on Facebook Live last night.  Not only is it new, it is improved in three ways.  First, the vanilla side is shimmery, and that makes it really special!  Next, the sheet with panels offers different sizes, including 4″ x 5 1/4″ to fit our typical cards.  And finally, the all-over pattern page can be cut into really distinct flowers and swags.

The photo above shows the all-over pattern, cut into individual flowers and bunches.  I am finding these bunches easier to work with than the lacy patterns from last year.

This is one of the shimmery vanilla 4″ x 5 1/4″ panels, mounted on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, which also measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ and then on a Mint Macaron card base.  The greeting here is from “Stitched All Around”.

The shimmery detailed laser-cut piece makes this card a simple beauty!

These two cards are made from one of 3 1/2″ x 5″ panels.  The laser-cut panel was layered over a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and the colors were rolled on with sponge brayers.  The laser-cut piece acts as a stencil.  I used Lovely Lipstick, Flirty Flamingo, and Blushing Bride for the ombre effect.

Once separated, I attached the laser-cut piece to a Whisper White note card, and I used the other sponged piece on a regular-sized card.

I used the same method to create these from another of the 3 1/2″ x 5″ panels.  The colors are Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green.  I mounted the laser-cut piece on Basic Black cardstock, and I made both into regular-sized cards.

I framed a piece of the all-over pattern on this card.  The designer paper is from the Magnolia Lane collection, and the greeting is from “Free As a Bird”.

I used the stitched rectangles, but you could create the same type of frame with another shape.

Here’s another version with a different print from the collection.

You can use even the smallest sprigs from this laser-cut paper.  Here, I sponged the shimmery side of the sprigs with Mossy Meadow, and I tucked them in with my greeting from “Free As a Bird”.

Of course, you don’t have to cut that all-over design into bunches.  An example from last year is shown below.  I cut the edges of the paper to match the cardstock in this case.  If you would like more ideas, click here to see last year’s post.

This post is meant as a supplement to last night’s Facebook Live.  Click here to go to the full video.

New Annual Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the Trip Achievers Blog Hop for June!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the projects.

This month, we are highlighting products from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  One of my favorite bundles from the Annual Catalog is Wish for It All.  I really loved all of the catalog samples for this bundle, and I CASEd one for today’s card.

Do you recognize this from page 65 of the catalog?  It is only slightly different from the Stampin’ Up! version.  I used Rococo Rose instead of Terracotta Tile for the strawberry section of my ice cream.

I also changed the look a bit by using vellum over my scoop of ice cream.  Whereas the catalog version used tinted embossing paste applied over a doily mask, I simply sponged the scalloped die cut and added a vellum doily over the top.

This is how I did my sponging – I placed a 7/8″ Post-It note strip over a Very Vanilla die cut scalloped circle, and I sponged with Early Espresso and Rococo Rose.

Are you getting used to the cling stamps?  If they are new to you, you might appreciate the video below.  I show tips for mounting and storing these stamps.  I also show how to use your extra cling material to add cling to your old clear mount stamps.  Check it out!

Thanks so much for taking part in our blog hop!  Please use any of the links below to travel to another blog on the list.

Flowers at Grandma’s House

The images from “Grandma’s House” are fun to color.  While they come with a bunch of cute “Grandma” greetings, they can be used for any occasion.  I used a greeting from “Itty Bitty Birthdays” for my belated birthday card.

I hope you know how much I appreciate it when you shop with me!  And to those who do,  I hope you enjoy the cards and products I share with you.  Your support in my online store allows me to continue bringing you fresh ideas for free.

Great New Punch Bundles

I highlighted two of my favorite new bundles last night on Facebook Live – both come with a stamp set and a punch, both have good general appeal, and both are reasonably priced.  That’s three wins for each bundle – you can’t go wrong with them!

“Above the Clouds” and the coordinating Hot Air Balloon punch are great for all kinds of occasions.  The inspirational messages are great for graduations, thinking of you’s, birthdays, you name it!  The balloon images come with a solid “fill-in” stamp, but these balloon images are also fun to color.

I made the big balloon dimensional on my card.  I simply stamped and punched three balloons, scored each in half, and attached them together.  The background is sponged with Seaside Spray, and the clouds are stamped in Seaside Spray.

The Daisy Lane bundle is another favorite of mine.  I made these simple note cards in no time with this bundle.

The note cards come in a pack of 20 (five each of four colors).  They already have a scalloped edge, but I added a 3/4″ x 5″ strip of Bird Ballad designer paper to the inside edge of each card.  The daisy centers are our Iridescent Sequins.

I also made these fun wraps for a Starbucks drink mix.  The daisies are Lovely Lipstick, and I used the fuzzy floral centers from the Perennial Essence suite.  The Old Olive piece measures 2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 7″.  The designer paper measures 4″ x 5″, scored at 1 3/8″ and 3 5/8″.

People are telling me that these look like a Christmas project, but in real life, the Lovely Lipstick looks pink and summery!  I promise!  These flowers remind me of Gerbera Daisies – what do you think?!

I added a video of just the drink mix favor below, so you don’t have to sort through Facebook to find this.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

This group is more summery…

Grandma’s House

There is a super-cute stamp set in our new Annual Catalog called “Grandma’s House”.  Not only does it have adorable “Grandma” greetings, but it has cute images to color!  I have used one of them here for a simple hello.  The greeting is from “Itty Bitty Greetings”.

Daisy Lane Treat Bag Pocket Card

I love to update tried and true project ideas with new product.  In our team meeting this week, we made this version of a pocket card using our new Copper Dotted Treat Bags.  This project also uses our fabulous new Medium Daisy Punch and Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The treat bag is scored 3 3/4″ from its bottom edge, and folded so that the front of the bag creates the front pocket.  I am showing a gift card in this front pocket, but it could also hold a tea bag, chocolate or other small gift.

I used a 1 1/2″ band of Mosaic Mood paper to hold the bag in this folded position, creating a second pocket for a note card.  The closed end of the bag is the top edge of my pocket card.  The dimensions of the note card are as follows:

Terracotta Tile cardstock 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

Whisper White cardstock 3″ x 4″

The notecard and daisies are stamped with stamps from “Daisy Lane”.  You can get the Medium Daisy Punch bundled with this stamp set for only $35, and this purchase would also qualify for my monthly product gift, Noble Peacock Rhinestones!

Here’s a better look at the notecard.  I stamped off the Mint Macaron ink on the leaf to create a lighter image, and I stamped the greeting with Garden Green.

This is a really efficient and easy way to make a card.  The treat bags make a really special base, and they are a great deal at 55 cents each! (10/$5.50)

I did find some throwback examples made with other bags that we have offered in the past.  I have to say, our new bags with the copper accents really stand out in a comparison!

Twin Pocket Purse and Card

Last night on Facebook Live, I used a folding technique with designer paper to create two versions of a pocket card – including a “his” and “hers” option.  “Hers” is this purse.  The twin pocket piece starts from a 6″ x 10″ piece of Magnolia Lane designer paper.

The reverse side of the pocket shown in the first picture is an identical pocket.  It is held in place by an accordion pleat in the Basic Black cardstock base.

The video below shows the dimensions and construction of this purse in detail.  If you are receiving this post in an email, please click here for the video.

The “his” version doesn’t have to be masculine.  I just happened to use products from the Come Sail Away Suite on my sample.

I made it just slightly smaller than a standard card, so that it will fit into a Medium Envelope even if it gets bulky.

The twin pocket piece on this one starts from a 7″ x 12″ piece of designer paper.  Full instructions are in the video below.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.
