Partial Die Cutting

Last night on Facebook Live, I made several cards using the technique of partial die cutting.  The partial circle is made by adjusting the top plate of the Big Shot to apply pressure over only a portion of the die.  After the partial die cut is made, straight cuts are added with a trimmer.  This post is meant as a supplement to last night’s live presentation – click here for full instructions.

The stamps are from “Healing Hugs”, and don’t you just love the great new In Color – Seaside Spray?  The Whisper White piece is attached to a piece of vellum that allows some transparency to the designer paper below.

This one uses a partially cut stitched rectangle at the lower edge.  The stamp set is “A Good Man”, from the upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Only the bottom of the lighthouse is die cut, and then diagonal lines were cut to the image.  The lighthouse is from the Sailing Home bundle that will be available June 4.

There is no die to match this flower from “Bloom by Bloom”, but you can achieve the same effect by “partial fussy-cutting”.  In this case, I cut the diagonals first, and then cut the lower edge of the flower with scissors.

Bloom & Grow Sneak Peek

The Bloom & Grow Bundle from the upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog includes three big sprays of flowers along with coordinating clusters of flowers and leaves, and they can all be cut out with coordinating framelits.

I colored the flowers with my Stampin’ Blends and added a greeting from “Woven Heirlooms”.  The stitched shape is also from the upcoming catalog.  All of these products will be available June 4.

Have a great day!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!  Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer and all that comes with it – longer days, fun and travel, and time outdoors.  There is no more appropriate time to stop to remember our fallen heroes and all who have served, allowing us the freedoms we enjoy.

I have a card for a Veteran to share today.

Who can resist the classic color combination of red, white and blue?  My blue here is Blueberry Bushel, and the red is Real Red.  I have used the retiring Jar of Love bundle and a greeting from the Darling Label Punch Box.  The background wood grain is from the Floral Romance Specialty collection.

Have a great day!

Modified Joy Folds

I have nothing against a standard card with a regular fold, but I love to shift gears with a fun fold.  This is one of the two modified joy fold cards I made last night on Facebook Live.  A typical joy fold uses two folded pieces that nest together.  My pieces here give the same effect, but they are more like flaps.

The products used on this card will be available from the Come Sail Away Suite starting June 4.

On this one, the flap on the left is part of the base piece.  The flap on the right is a separate piece, attached to the base before the Whisper White mat is added.

Dimensions are as follows:

Sahara Sand 5 1/2″ x 6 3/4″, scored at 4 1/4″ and 3″ x 3 1/2″, scored at 1/2″

Night of Navy 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

Designer Paper 2″ x 5″ and 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

My second version uses two flaps and coordinating patterns from the Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper collection.  On the left, I used a stamp and dies from Coffee Cafe, and on the right, I used Pocketful of Sunshine.

I added a slot to the inside of one flap with the Classic Label Punch.  The dimensions are as follows:

Cardstock for Card Base 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/4″

Cardstock for flaps 3″ x 3 1/2″, scored at 1/2″ and 4 1/4″ x 3 3/4″, scored at 1/2″

Designer Paper 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and 4″ x 3″

You can adapt any of these flap sizes to your stamps and layout.  This post was meant as a supplement to last night’s Facebook Live.  Click here to be directed to the video.

Favorite Happy Colors

This card was inspired by a nail art design that caught my eye.  It uses my favorite Brights – Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo along with a great In Color – Lovely Lipstick.  It also uses quite a hodgepodge of stamp sets and tools, but since they have been some of our favorites over the last few catalogs, maybe you already have them!

The flowers are stamped with “Swirly Bird” and also use the coordinating Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  These are retiring, and only available while supplies last.  The Dot to Dot embossing folder is also retiring.

I used a greeting stamp from “Rooted in Nature” and the label shape from the Stitched Label Framelits.  Both of these items will carry over into the new catalog, though they are each currently part of a discounted bundle, and the bundle prices will not be available on these products in the new catalog (after June 4.)  The Leaf Punch is carrying over.

Thank you for checking out my card!  If you need any of our fabulous products, click here to shop, or use the carousel below to be directed to a specific product used in today’s projects.

Cash and Gift Card Wallets

On last night’s Facebook Live, I showed how to make two versions of a “wallet” card for cash, checks and gift cards.  These are perfect for graduation or any other occasion.  I really enjoyed the Broadway Bound specialty designer paper for this project.  The pretty gold foil makes the cards special without extra fuss.  It is on the retiring list, but still available at the time of this post (while supplies last).

These cards can be made in either orientation.  If you have paper with a directional print, make sure you plan carefully before you cut!

Check out the video below for complete instructions.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.  Dimensions are as follows:

Cash Wallet

Designer Paper 7 3/4″ x 9 1/2″, scored at 3/8″ and 7 3/8″ on 7 3/4″ side, and scored at 1 3/8″, 4 1/2″, 7 1/2″ on 9 1/2″ side*

Cardstock 2 7/8″ x 6 3/4″

Whisper White 2 3/4″ x 6 5/8″

Gift Card Wallet

Designer Paper 4″ x 12″, scored at 3/8″ and 3 5/8″ on the 4″ side, and scored at 1 3/8″, 5 3/8″ and 9 1/4″ on the 12″ side*

Cardstock 3 3/4″ x 3″

Whisper White 3 5/8″ x 2 7/8″

*The 1 3/8″ width is the flap end – plan directional prints with this in mind.

Some Things Old, Some Things New

I guess the most obvious new thing here is the beautiful Pretty Peacock color.  I have used cardstock, designer paper, ink and Scalloped Linen Ribbon in Pretty Peacock, one of the 2019-2021 In Colors.  The flower is new, too – it is from the Floral Essence Bundle, a stamp set and punch.

The greeting and lacy die-cut shape have been with us almost a year now.  They are from the Stitched All Around bundle.  The stamps and dies from this bundle are carrying over into the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  However, keep in mind with all bundles…items that are currently bundled and carrrying over will not be available in a discounted bundle in the new catalog.

Thanks so much for checking out my card.  If you need any of our fabulous products, please click here for the online store, or use the carousel below to be directed to a specific product.  (Only items currently available are shown in the carousel.)

Come Sail Away Suite

As Demonstrators, we were fortunate to have almost everything from the Come Sail Away Suite available for preorder.  This suite of products will be available in the upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, and it is a great suite for masculine cards.

I have already designed two Class To Go options with this suite.  These classes will be free with the purchase of the bundle (Option 1) or the suite (Option 2), starting June 4 when the new annual catalog goes live.

In the meantime, I have a couple of easy fun fold cards to share from this suite…

The first uses a Memories & More card as the focal point along with greetings from “A Good Man”.  The card opens as shown below.

The card base is Seaside Spray, 5 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  The designer paper strip on the front measures 2″ x 5 1/4″.  I used a precut and scored Whisper White note card for the piece that folds opposite the base.

The smaller Memories & More cards measure 3″ x 4″, and I have simply matted the lighthouse card on a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Night of Navy before attaching it to the card front.  The anchor and sailboat stamps are part of the Sailing Home Bundle.

This card is essentially the same, but I have used more of the stamps and framelits from the bundle.  There are so many great pieces in this set!!

Please check back closer to June 4 if you are interested in receiving a free Class To Go.  It is too soon to assign the Host Code for these purchases, but I will change this post and list full info under “Classes To Go” on the menu bar when the info is available!
