Alaska Achievers Blog Hop – January

Welcome to the Alaska Achievers Blog Hop for January!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog (Chris Slogar) or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the projects.

I chose to use the Tutti Frutti Suite – it is so yummy!!  I love everything about it, especially the Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack!

I used the Gift Bag Punch Board to make a bag for Narrow Note Cards.

The Fruit Basket Bundle and Tutti Frutti designer series paper offer unlimited possibilities for cute projects.  I decorated our precut and scored Narrow Note Cards.  I also added a piece of coordinating designer paper, punched with the 2 1/4″ circle punch, to each envelope to simulate envelope liners.

On my pineapple card, the designer paper measures 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.  I used the Everyday Label Punch (held over from the 2017 Holiday Catalog) and the Stitched Oval framelit that cuts a 2 1/4″ long oval.

The Night of Navy print here measures 2″ x 4 1/2″, and the Real Red strip is 1/2″ x 3″.

Finally, my pear card uses a strip of designer paper measuring 1″ x 4 1/2″.  I used the smallest Stitched Circle framelit, and slightly larger framelits from the Layering Circles Framelits.

You can see that the possiblities with these mini stamps and punches are endless!  Besides the fact that punches make projects quick and easy, here’s what I love about this bundle…

While these punches may appear tiny and fussy, they are very forgiving.  The punched shapes are slightly smaller than the stamped images.  That means you don’t have to align everything perfectly to get a good result.

The video below shows how to create the bag.  If you are receiving this post in an email, click here for the video.

If you are like me, and you just love these sweet little note cards, you may also be interested in the boxed sets of note cards I showed earlier this month using the Picture Perfect Party Suite.  Click here for that project.

Happy Wishes

This card shows off two of our Sale-a-bration freebies – the stamp set “Happy Wishes” and the beautiful Calypso Coral shimmer ribbon.  You could use this same layout with any accent colors against this black and white background paper from the Petal Passion collection.

The “best” stamp was inked with two colors.  I tapped it onto my Blushing Bride stamp pad first, and then I added Calypso Coral to the lower half of the stamp with a sponge dauber.

Happy Wishes Wood-Mount Stamp Set

The stamp set can be chosen for free with a $100 purchase, and it is just bursting with greeting possibilities.

3/8" (1 cm) Shimmer Ribbon Pack

The Shimmer Ribbon is free with a $50 purchase, and it includes 5 yards per roll.

Lovely Wishes

Lovely Wishes includes some really lovely greetings, like this one.  You can see the others below.  The set also includes really lovely two-step images – I have used just a few of the solid stamps to create my card.  The colors are Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, and Emerald Envy.  I love these bright colors against the black and white of the Petal Passion designer paper.

Narrow Note Card Boxes

Have you seen the Narrow Note Cards that were introduced this month in the Occasions 2018 Catalog?  They are precut and scored to make finished cards measuring 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″, and they come with envelopes that have a round flap on the end.  They are so cute!

I used these cards and envelopes to create a group of six mini birthday cards with the Picture Perfect Birthday Suite.

The designer paper on the last card (the present) measures 2″ x 2 3/4″.  These are really fun little cards to make!  I also made boxes to hold my cards.

The box on the left is an envelope-style box that is about 3/4″ thick.  The file box is wider, as it is meant to stand on a desk.  Both of these boxes are made with the envelope punch board, as shown in the video below.  If you are receiving this blog post in an email, click here for the video.

This idea is easily adaptable to other themes.  The note cards would be suitable for Valentines, Thank Yous, Thinking of Yous, and more.  We have so many coordinating papers and embellishments for any of these themes, so the possibilities are endless.  I hope you’ll try this – it is an easy project, and quite addicting!!

Party Pandas Valentine

“Party Pandas” is a set that you can choose to receive for free with a $50 order during Sale-a-bration.  The pandas are pretty irresistible – like this little character delivering a love note.

This card is a fun fold, and the dimensions of each piece are listed below.  I used a greeting from the Soft Sayings Card Kit.

Rich Razzleberry 4 1/4″ x 9″, scored at 5 1/2″

Powder Pink 4″ x 3 1/4″ and 4″ x 5 1/4″

Whisper White 3 3/4″ x 5″

Designer Paper 3 3/4″ x 3″

Picture Perfect Confetti

This card has the fun look of a shaker card, but it doesn’t shake.  The confetti is sandwiched between 2 1/4″ squares of Whisper White and Window Sheet, and it stays in place.  It’s flatter and a little less fussy than a shaker card, but still so charming.

The Berry Burst frame is cut with framelits from the Layering Squares Framelits Collection, the 2 1/2″ Scalloped Square and the 1 7/8″ Square.  I got the idea for the confetti from Brian King – the pieces are punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch (the larger circles on the punch and the heart).

The Whisper White piece measures 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″, and the Peekaboo Peach measures 3″ x 4″.  The designer paper is from the Picture Perfect Party collection.  I started with a 3″ x 5 1/4″ rectangle, and cut the banner end with scissors.

More Valentines

I plan to use this layout with several different designer paper collections, changing the coordinating colors and ribbon as appropriate.  I do love how the watercolor stripes from this Naturally Eclectic paper coordinate with the long heart from “Heart Happiness”.

I added a 1/2″ wide strip of designer paper from the same collection on the inside of the card, along with more hearts – there are so many great hearts in “Heart Happiness”!  The greeting is from “Happy Birthday Gorgeous”.

Heart Happiness

I hope you don’t mind a little more Powder Pink today…’tis the season!  I made these with friends in Columbus yesterday – it was such a treat to see them.

You might have already guessed that these would be gift card holders – I love to use the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits for gift card packaging.  You can make the treat bag out of designer paper or cardstock.

The Thick Whisper White insert measures 3 3/8″ x 6″, scored at 1 1/2″.  I used a 1/2″ strip of designer paper (the single line of hearts), wrapped around the insert piece and secured to the back to create the pocket.  I simply trim the ends so that they almost meet on the back.

The paper is from the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Paper collection, and the LOVE stamp is from the “Labels to Love” stamp set, held over from the Holiday Catalog.  The other stamps are from “Heart Happiness”.

So these two gift card holders will be mailed back to Columbus in the upcoming weeks.  When I make doubles of something (especially gift card holders), they are usually meant for my daughters.  I think the secret is safe here, though.  While my girls are my biggest fans on Instagram, I am quite sure they don’t read to the end of my blog posts:)
