Evolution of a Holiday Hostess Thank You and Halloween Blog Candy

Sorry for the long misleading title on this post…you are not actually going to see a holiday card today, or the blog candy…yet – tomorrow is Halloween!  What better day to give out candy?  Stop back to enter to win.

Flowerpot Holiday Home Birthday

This “Holiday Home” birthday card is one of this month’s Card Buffet cards, but one of the ladies who made it last night picked a different sentiment for it…

Flowerpot Holiday Home Kindness

She thought it would make a great hostess thank you with this sentiment.  The greeting and the starburst are from “Kinda Eclectic”, so this pairing seems so obvious now.  I am glad I had someone to point me in the right direction 🙂

Beyond that, don’t you think this will make a great thank you with a holiday theme?  Add some designer paper in greens and reds, and maybe a tree or some other “Holiday Home” accessories – or even the starburst in red with some bling.  It doesn’t have to be a real scene.  What started as a year-round birthday card can be much more, and let’s face it…those houses are just fun to play with!

Have a great day!

White Christmas and Good Greetings

This has been popular in Card Buffet this week, and here’s the best thing about it…it is simple!  It think it’s the contrasts that make this card appealng – Lost Lagoon with Cherry Cobbler, and the big bold ribbon with the understated image and sentiment.

The snowman and star are from “White Christmas”, and the sentiment is from “Good Greetings” – which is only available through Friday with a $300 order.  Contact me to put together a group order to get this greeting set.

Have a great day!

Bordering Blooms for Fall

Bordering Blooms for Fall

Here is a card from this week’s Card Buffet that uses “Bordering Blooms”.  You might not think of using these floral sets so much in the fall, but they are great in fall colors!  I do a lot of CASE-ing (Copy And Share Everything) for my Card Buffet cards, and this card is almost an exact case of UK demo Zoe Tant’s card that I saw on Pinterest.

Please contact me if you would like to join us for Card Buffet.  There are spaces on Tuesday at 6:30pm and Thursday at noon.  The cost is $12 to make 6 cards of your choice.

Don’t forget that this is the last week (through Friday 10/31) to earn “Good Greetings”.  It is FREE with a $300 order – this can be your own order, a combined order with friends or a workshop.  Please contact me if you would like to organize a group order.  Here’s a look at the set:

Many Merry Stars (and Trees!)

Stampin' Up! Tree Punch

Am I the only one who didn’t understand the triangular stamp in our new “Many Merry Stars” set?  I thought it was intended to go with the Tree Punch until I saw the Stampin’ Up! video showing how to decorate the points of stars!  Well I like it for trees too, and here is a simple card, made special with a little heat embossing and a snowflake charm.

“Many Merry Stars” is in our Holiday Supplement.  It is a great blend of stars and snowflakes!  (and trees!)  You can see the images below.  Click here to see additional products available in the Holiday Supplement.

Yippee-Skippee

DSC_0207w

I have been meaning to post this sweet card ever since I received it from my upline Mindy Gray.  It is displayed on a shelf in my craft room, and it gets a lot of compliments so I am sure you will like it, too!  Isn’t t charming with its fall colors and lighthearted sentiment?  The flowers are from “Too Kind” and the sentiment is from “Yippee-Skippee”.

DSC_0208w

It is a One-Flap Easel card – you can see from the side that a cardstock easel props up a panel for display.  Its really cute laying flat, too.

What a great way to brighten someone’s day!  And how lucky am I to have an upline who sends fun cards like this?!

Curvy Keepsake Pumpkin Patch

DSC_0201w

There are so many great uses for the Curvy Keepsake Box, and so far I have only showed you a couple of football-related boxes (here).  That’s funny because I am not a huge football fan, though I do love team color combinations and spirit items.

Anyway, I would be remiss if I didn’t show you the most seasonally appropriate creation from this die – the pumpkin!  I stamped my pieces with the stripe from “Work of Art” before assembling.  The finished size is about a 2 1/2″ cube, and it holds up to a dozen Hershey Kisses.  This little die will make great favors in any colors, for any theme or holiday.

The dies in this set are shown below.  You cut two pieces from the funny L-shaped die and attach them together to create one box.  The box holds itself closed because the slots fit around the handle pieces.  It is really simple to use, and you get three tag shapes with it.

I have a Christmas Card in a Box to show today.  I was inspired by a card by Debbie Mageed that I saw on our Demo site.  It uses “Holiday Home” and “Festival of Trees”.  These 3D cards are just fun – fun to make and fun to receive!

Holiday Home Card in a Box

I heat embossed the houses with white embossing powder on Early Espresso, Blackberry Bliss, and Cherry Cobbler.  The white powder really pops on those rich dark colors.  The snowflakes are from the Snowflake Card Thinlit Dies.  This card folds flat into an A2 envelope for easy mailing.

Holiday Home Card in a Box - flat

Receive this card along with an additional unassembled Card in a Box base FREE with your online order of $35 or more (before S/H and tax).  You can use the additional base as a pattern to create more of these cards, or simply assemble and decorate as you please.  The unassembled base pieces will be Crumb Cake, and please note that the designer paper on the finished box that you receive may vary.

Have a great day!

12/28/2015 Update:

I added a video on 11/14, but will post it here, too, so it is easier to find 🙂  Note that this is no longer the “Featured Project” on my blog, but if you are ordering and you would prefer to receive this, please drop me an email.  I will be happy to send one of these with an additional crumb cake base as long as I can (while ribbon and designer paper supply lasts.)

White Christmas Shaker Card

DSC_0169w

We made this shaker card in Stamp Club this weekend.  We have done a few different shakers this year, but this one is different because the shaker is a clear window to the inside of the card.

DSC_0174w

So of course, it makes perfect sense to look through a window onto a scene created with “White Christmas”.  “Holiday Home” would be great, too!  Here’s a look at the inside…

DSC_0164w

This is easier to make than you might expect.  The window is created with two of the square framelits – the 2 3/8″ and 3 1/4″ sizes.

DSC_0178w

Here are the pieces for the window – on the left, the card base, 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and punched with the Confetti Stars punch.  The opening is cut with the smaller square framelit.  A piece of window sheet cut with the larger framelit is glued to the INSIDE of the card front.  Since a square is an easy shape to cut, you could cut the window sheet pieces for this card on your trimmer.

At top right, a piece of cardstock cut with both square framelits to create a frame.

At bottom right, an additional piece of window sheet cut with the larger square framelit.  To this window sheet, add foam tape around the perimeter.  You can also use edge strips from dimensionals.

DSC_0179w

Turn the card base over and add sequins to the FRONT of the window.

DSC_0180w

Then stick the second window sheet to the FRONT of the card…

DSC_0181w

…and cover with the window frame.  Decorate as you wish – I added a valence to my window and the greeting from “White Christmas”.

DSC_0182w

Here’s a hint for stamping the inner mat…I couldn’t stamp through the window opening because the scene on the inside was bigger than the window, so I made a mask to help place the scene.  The mask is cut the same size as the inner mat (4″ x 5 1/4″), and I used the larger square framelit to cut an opening that was centered with the opening on the card front.

It takes a little planning to make sure the elements you want to see are visible through the window, but it is so fun to work with these stamps to create a scene.  The pink snowmen are post-its that we used as masks when stamping our scenes.

The card below is my first attempt at this window technique, inspired by Nicole Tugrul’s fun birthday card that you can see here.  Nicole has detailed instructions for this version with the star.

Here is my star shaker, for the holidays…

DSC_0167w

It was definitely easier to stamp this single greeting from “Cheerful Tags” on the inner mat.  I simply stamped through the opening on the front of the card before adding either of the window sheets.  Placing the foam tape was not harder because of the shape – it just took a little longer to get all of the edges covered.  These are really fun – hope you will try one!!
