I love to showcase ideas I get from others, and today I have a new group of samples to show off from Mary Jane Ebie.  If you are like me, you love to see which products others are drawn to, and how they use them.  There are some great designs here – enjoy!

I CASE (Copy and Share Everything) a lot for Card Buffet, and these seasonal cards from this month’s class are both CASEs.  The one on the left is a copy of a card I received from my upline, Mindy Gray.  Love it!!  The card on the right is a card I saw by Justin Krieger (see it here).  Aren’t they both so summery and appropriate as we head into July?

There is still room in Card Buffet on Thursday at noon.  There are 16 cards to pick from again this month – please contact me if you would like to join us!

Spinner Cards

First of all, a big “Thank You!!” to everyone who came to the Rubber Stamp and Papercraft sale this weekend.  Also, thank you to all of the sellers (we had 17!)  who provided such a nice variety of stamps and tools, and a big thank you to the gals from my team who helped set up, sell, and clean up!

Debbie had the great idea to snap a few pictures from the sale…

IMG_0807w

Isn’t this an inviting check-out table?  Carol from my group (on the left) is so friendly and welcoming.  My girls had their big smiles ready, too, though I know they would have liked to stay in bed on a Saturday morning.  They all did a great job!  Debbie also got a great shot of Nancy, one of our favorite stampers, looking through all of the stamp sets we had for sale.

IMG_0813w

Thanks again to all for making the sale a success!

We also had Stamp Club this weekend, and these are the Spinner Cards we made.  If you are not familiar with Spinner Cards, you might want to check out the video at the end of the post to see how they move – the crab and the cupcake spin in their tracks.

DSC_0977w

This cupcake card is an example of the classic spinner.  It uses a straight track made with the Word Window punch.  You can spin any shape or image.  Stars, flowers, sunshine, pinwheels, kites, animals, greetings, word bubbles, you name it – if you can mount it on a penny, you can spin it.

I used the new “Cupcake Party” stamps primarily, with banners from the Sale-a-bration set “Banner Blast”.  The little Happy Birthday stamp on the orange banner is from “Honeycomb Hello”, which will be a great set for banners as well as honeycombs.

DSC_0976w

This spinner on a circular track is a fun version, and thanks to the Circle Framelits, it is easy to make.  We used the 3 3/16″ circle framelit to cut the large circle, and the 2 3/8″ circle for the octopus piece which makes the center of the track.  By the way, the octopus piece is a double layer of the Whisper White on a piece of Coastal Cabana.  I didn’t think the Whisper White alone would make a firm enough edge for the track.

The stamp set here is “Sea Street” and the greeting is from “Itty Bitty Banners”.

In either case, the spinning image is simply mounted on a penny.  The picture below shows a close up of the track on the cupcake card so you can see the layers that surround the track.  There is a penny above and below the track, with a dimensional sandwiched between.

DSC_0982w

The crab is done similarly, except I omitted the penny on top of the track.  One penny provided enough weight for a good spin, and the three layers of cardstock above the track (the crab, circle, and scallop circle) provided a firm top.  Either way works great as you can see by the motion in the video…my first Buckeye Inklings video!

Paper Pumpkin Subscriptions

Just a reminder to my local readers, tomorrow is the Rubber Stamp and Papercraft Sale at my house, 9a – 1p!  Please stop by to check out the wide variety of stamps and tools for sale.  It is a combined sale, with items collected from customers and demos.  I will have a make-n-take (weather permitting) and prizes, too.  Contact me for more info or directions.  Hope you can make it!

Today I am showing June’s Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I think this is the best way to describe Paper Pumpkin.  The June kit makes 24 adorable pinwheels using 3 different designer paper patterns.  Here’s a closer look at one pinwheel:

DSC_0966w

The kit includes everything to make the project as shown, including the pinwheel components, banner tag, stamps, ink, mini paper clips, twine and cello bags (but not the candy!)  In your first month as a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you will also receive an acrylic block to use with the stamps each month.  Here is a closer look at the other two-sided designer papers in this kit.  I love projects that show off both sides of the paper!

DSC_0963w

Paper Pumpkin is a papercraft subscription.  For $19.95/month (includes shipping) you get a project like this delivered to your mailbox.  You get everything, down to the little accessories, but you don’t have to buy a lot of stuff.

Stampin’ Up! has recently introduced prepaid subscriptions which can be added to any order.  Here’s the best part…the value of the prepaid subscriptions counts toward Hostess Benefits!

Download (PDF, 184KB)

How can you use this to your benefit?

Get together with two or more friends to try a three-month subscription.  Contact me and I will group your orders so that the combined order will receive Hostess Benefits – for example, if there are three of you purchasing a three-month subscription, you will also get $25 in free product.  Grouping more subscriptions earns more free product.

Buy a year for yourself, and not only is the kit cheaper per month, but you will also get $30 in Hostess Benefits.

Buy a subscription as a gift.  You will receive the redemption code, which you can then give to your recipient to set up with their subscription details.

If you host a qualifying workshop, you can buy a Paper Pumpkin subscription as your Half-Price item.  That means you could get 12 months for $107.70!

Please contact me if you have any questions about Paper Pumpkin or if you and your friends would like to group your orders to earn Hostess Benefits.  You can also purchase a subscription from the store or on any order – you will be emailed directions to apply the purchase to a new or existing subscription. Or use the button in the left column of my webpage to join and pay monthly.

If you subscribe by July 10, you will start receiving kits in July.  You can cancel or put the subscription on hold at any time.

Have a great weekend!

Petite Petals

DSC_0955w

“Petite Petals” has been a favorite since its debut in the Occasions Catalog, and the stamp set and punch are both still available in the new Annual Catalog.  The little flowers and the greeting from “A Dozen Thoughts” make a great focal point on this simple card.  I used Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz with Very Vanilla for a soft look.

This card will be in Card Buffet next week.  Please contact me if you would like to join us!  I will also post a “To Go” version of selected cards from Card Buffet next week.

Have a great day!

Sweet Stuff

I used three new products on this card.  “Sweet Stuff” lives up to its name with a handful of cute images and greetings.  It seemed only right to pair it with “Sweet Taffy” designer series paper.  The third item is the Polka Dot embossing folder – love those bold dots!

I have two cards to show today that were made with the Hostess Set “Nuts About You”, a set of 11 stamps that can be put together to make cute scenes.

DSC_0948w

I colored the tree stamp with the brush ends of my Early Espresso and Old Olive markers.  The greeting on Daffodil Delight is punched out with the 1″ circle punch.  The Tangerine Tango part of the sun is not cut with a Starburst framelit as you might think.  The smallest of those framelits was too small.  Instead, I punched a 1 1/4″ scallop circle, picked it up with a Post-It note, put it back in the punch rotating it one half scallop width, and punched again to make the starburst.

Have a great day!

Back to Black Background

DSC_0946w

Happy 200th challenge to The Paper Players!  They are celebrating this week with favorite sketches from members of the Design Team.  I chose Nance Leedy’s favorite.

I used Back to Black designer series paper for the background pieces – isn’t the new designer paper great this year?  With the bold pattern in the background, I didn’t need much else. The designer paper makes this simple card look more sophisticated than it is!  I threw in a pop of Melon Mambo and Garden Green.  The leaf and flower are made from the new Flower Frenzy Bigz die.

You can see more entries into the 200th Challenges at The Paper Players.

Sea Street Fussy Cutting and More Card in a Box Cards

DSC_0931w

The fun thing about the Card in a Box cards is how unexpected they are.  You pull this really plain, flat card out of the envelope, and then it becomes this:

DSC_0941w

How clever is that?  I made this one for the color challenge at The Paper Players this week.  It may be the simplest of the Card in a Box cards that I have done lately, with only the three elements popping out of the box, four if you count the waves in the front.  Btw I used my smallest circle punch to nip out the waves.  The stamps on the banners are from Honeycomb Hello – love this little set for my banners!!

I was inspired by so many fussy cutters who have been cutting out this octopus from the Sea Street set.  I was dying to have a go at it myself, and I must say, cutting out one octopus has probably been enough to satisfy that urge!  My upline Mindy Gray sent me this darling card, and she said that she made 10 of these!!  What dedication!

DSC_0937w

Her card would fit this color challenge, too.  We have both used the new Maritime designer series paper which features Real Red, Whisper White and Night of Navy.  You can see more entries at The Paper Players.

I have one more Card in a Box to show – and this is one that we are making in my classes this week.  There is still room in tomorrow’s class at 10am if you would like to make this.  Please contact me asap.

DSC_0940w

This one uses the Flowerpot designer series paper (<3 <3 <3 !!)  The new designer papers are really great, aren’t they?  I am also changing my “Featured Card” to a Card in a Box today, so if you order $35 (before S/H and tax) online from me, you will receive a card like this (paper patterns may vary) from me in the mail.  I will also include an unassembled card base to use as a pattern to create your own cards.

If you would like to learn how to make these yourself, I recommend the tutorial at splitcoaststampers.com.  You can see it here.  I used the Variation to A2 Vertical.

Have a great weekend!
